New Substances In Prepared Food

Wai says: Due to heat, preparing food originates new substances. Most of these new substances originate from proteins reacting upon carbohydrates. Theoretically, does this mean that if a food contained lots of protein and zero carbohydrates at all, then it would not originate "most" of the new subst...

the poll

So, you think it might be possible to live forever physically? If you had to say one way or the other, which would you decide? Option #3 [No, it's not possible] could apply to you even if it does not specify that you believe in some sort of afterlife or reincarnation (not sure which one you believe)...

De-worming and parasite theories

Hey, do you think it would be wise to undergo some de-worming procedure every now and then just to make sure some huge parasite isn't growing inside your colon. I've been eating wild salmon and I know salmon can have parasites it its wild. Is there a test that has 100% accuracy to see if you have pa...

Sardines can be dangerous

Be careful with sardines. They can contain unsafe levels of Domic Acid which, in severe cases can cause death. Domoic Acid Domoic acid was only recently discovered (1991) in California. Certain one-celled plants called diatoms produce domoic acid. Bivalve shellfish and some finfish filter these diat...

Re: I am 19 with 300 cholesterol. Am I at risk?

That might explain the higher LDL/HDL ratio. What you definitely need is BOTH reports, so that you can make clear comparisons. For example: How were and are the numbers of chylomicrons and VLDL? My doctor did not even mention chylomicrons and VLDL, so I guess I have to ask him about that, or get th...

Re: I am 19 with 300 cholesterol. Am I at risk?

You say that the cholesterol-containing food you eat is raw, but how long is that the case? Have you been eating generous amounts of high cholesterol cooked foods in the past few years? I was %100 raw-vegan until about 1 year ago, when I got turned onto Weston A. Price and "traditional" mixed-raw d...

I am 19 with 300 cholesterol. Am I at risk?

Hello everyone. Recently, I had a blood test done and apparently it turns out that I have over a 300 cholesterol blood-level. Even worse is that my LDL is WAY higher than my HDL. The doctor was very concerned. He also told me that my liver enzymes were at 50 points, where they should normally be at ...

Ah, there you are... So, EFA's are not harmful, but excessive EFA's are, in as much as too much of any vitamin is bad. Consuming natural fatty foods, you will never be able to imbalance your fatty acid intake. I don't think that is the point of that the author was trying to make and I think you cou...
