ketosis
Is there a substantial difference between a ketogenic diet that draws mostly on fat (with little but adequate protein, and a few carbohydrates) and one that draws primarily on protein and to a lesser extent fat? When I first read about the Vonderplanitz diet, I wondered this, as for awhile I was und...

re: thanks
Psyllium is very rough going....The information on the many parts of the Wai site was very, very helpful because it helped me sense how raw cholesterol's absorption can be hindered by large amounts of fiber.... and one's brain sort of has the wind knocked out of it; the organic functioning of the br...

seeds
When I juice cucumbers I always remove the inner column of seeds. If I don't, within about 12 hours the juice goes bitter in taste. This doesn't happen -- it tastes sweet and fresh; that watermelon-like crisp taste cucumbers have-- if I seed them carefully. It means losing some of the expressed juic...

opioid peptides
I am so interested in this that in fact I have purchased a scientific study online (for the first time ever) that is related; I would think that if I were an athlete it would be a very seductive idea to explore.... Perhaps these effects are subtle. But if you exclude these substances; these variable...

puffy
Yes-- I think for him sourdough/unyeasted plain white-flour bread is one of his munch foods (in his diet-- I am not using the words 'munch food' to imply resemblance of his diet to the Wai diet at all...) He says he eats it sparingly with large amounts of raw butter, which he feels is somehow protec...

exertion
I used to run and swim distances and opioid peptide-containing foods made things worse, breathingwise. There are all sorts of different endogenous and exogenous opioids that have effects on different parts of breathing- tidal volume; respiratory rate; chest flexibility. I always wonder about this no...

vonderplanitz
This is what he says he eats: For each individual the proper ratio of raw animal products may vary. Experience has shown me that over time raw animal products produce the calmest, most balanced human nature with excellent mental clarity. For the last few years my raw animal products consumption has ...

puffiness
oh yes; you are right; and I think it is probably a question of minerals... He eats vegetables juiced only... and very, very little fruit. It is mostly raw fat and protein...I can feature how he might have to use protein for blood sugar though (redundant protein being used as sugars, just because th...

I was reading this and I wished to say that opioid peptides (if one is not 100% given over to the diet) can interfere with breathing, which is especially evident during exertion. Opioids; maybe beta-carbolines too depress ribcage breathing; in a way opioids in particular anesthetize the whole of the...

raw fats
Perhaps I'm wondering if you feel the dairy fat in the diet has hormones that cause water retention...
Or if the raw meats he eats have hormones as well, and these are what is causing the water retention.
Or maybe it is just kind of a devilish comment![Twisted Evil ](./images/smilies/icon_twisted.gif)

ah, but I do not understand the comment that this fellow in the photo 'looks puffy; swollen...."--- (that is, what the inference could be in stating this...). He eats a completely raw diet, it seems, and the amount of protein cannot be that high. Even though it is raw and therefore not disturbing to...

dehydrator
RRM, would you talk about dehydrating fish again in a low-temp. dehydrator?
(Or if someone would post a link to this thread-- I cannot see where it is).
You spoke about making a soft, chewy salmon 'jerky' which lasted 2-3 weeks and was portable without refrigeration. Thank you...

orange juice
I found (through reading this bulletin board with others' experiences, plus RRM's excellent postings) that oranges are high in sucrose, which has to be cleaved by the lower intestine (it is a double sugar). I seemed to have problems in my body precisely there; I used other juices instead like white ...

candida
I did not consult him; I looked up every possible reference to his center's program online and read every word on his site. In fact he does say something to support the approach to controlling blood sugar that RRM takes, namely that even if you fast, there is still blood glucose (for other organisms...

candida
There are programs that work that go against this diet for a short while, but that ultimately this diet strengthens the body enough to prevent recurrence, and also bring one to full health. If you look up Michael Biamonte (Biamonte Center in NYC, in the US) you will find a good program. He rotates a...
