Re: Juicing with slow juicer, pith/pulp removal or is it goo
Perhaps it's hesperidin: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hesperidin I would imagine we get just as much of this as we need by eating or juicing citrus as normal. It has no calories, and by weight it is <1% of an orange, so why worry about it? We will probably lack calories before (like protein) we lack...

Re: Oil on face, in detail
I realize this is an old thread, but my question is related and I like to prevent forum clutter: In the summer, my splash of shower water and fingertip of walnut oil was sufficient to moisturize my face and not leave any dry areas. Now, I'm finding that my forehead and cheeks are dry and flaky after...

Re: Wrong value in nutrient calculator
Is the nutrient calculator updated with the revised WHO recommendations for protein? I don't see a changelog or timestamp on the javascript. Also, is the protein quality calculation correct? I have limited js experience, but I'd be interested in lending help if any is needed.

Re: Protein Quality
I mostly intend to read the entire 284 page report :D but does anyone have any thoughts about why the requirements would have changed? Page 111 mentions the need for Lysine and its unavailability after Maillard rxn. But didn't we know this about processed food already? Are brazil nuts not quite as i...

lol! I'm not sure you can spot it. Perhaps the best we can do is buy in-shell nuts from popular stores/online, that are regularly getting new shipments.

Re: refrigerate nuts? peel brown thin layer?
I think it's just fine, Kookaburra. Trying to peel it would be like trying to peel a dried fig--nearly impossible and not worth your time.

Re: Acne & Evolution
Is everyone except those on the Wai diet an "extremely unique case"? I was just thrown off by your wording in the earlier post. Nothing you just recently said seems outrageous, it all seems to fit the Wai hypothesis or currently accepted theory...but wouldn't obese or arthritic dogs/cats/kookaburras...

Re: Acne & Evolution
First, I want to know what an improper sex appetite is, and what it causes? Also, I hope there aren't any Nazis around here. It's difficult to debate this topic if everyone can't first agree about how evolution and genetics "work". One thing to keep in mind is that evolution does NOT happen because ...

Re: Vitamin B8/Biotin in Food
if published food values of biotin are so inaccurate, what can we conclude about the published intake recommendations? USA recommended daily intake of biotin is up to 30 micrograms for adults, and supplements contain up to 300mcg. I have read that adult recommendations are extrapolated from estimate...

I think it's variable depending on the local trees, but NutritionData.com says:
Mn - 3.3mg/100g;
Zn - 4.2mg/100g

Funny, I read about Sovereign Americans like 5 years ago when I was researching traffic laws. What do you think about all this, Oscar? Panacea, maybe you could just write a couple letters like Mary in the book that Oscar posted, and not even bother going to court :D Thanks for posting that link, I'm...

The oranges produced in USA are very good for me, but I don't know if you can get those.
"Malki" mandarins from Peru are great.
I too have tried South African and they are bad right now.

I really like the taste of coconut oil, brown sugar, and a little bit of salt.
When I'm feeling adventurous, I throw in some oats.
I wonder if maple syrup is too high in [Mn] to be consumed regularly? It tastes great with this, too. But I've read of Mn interfering with iron metabolism.
