Re: folic acid before pregnancy
The synthetic form of vitamin B9, known as folic acid, does not occur in nature. Only folates are found naturally in foods. Folic acid is a man-made version of the vitamin, created for use in supplements and for fortifying foods because it is more stable and has a higher bioavailability than natural...

Re: Wai Diet
The high temperature and high metabolic rate of humans suggests that we do best with a more saturated fatty acid intake. Saturated fats are more efficient as pure fuel, but the more complex structure of PUFAs enables them to elicit more specific effects (eg 'messenger role') We naturally consume pr...

Re: Wai Diet
My concern with Pufas is that they so easily oxidize True. Many nutrients easily oxidize, but yes, PUFAs more so than other FAs. The body is very well equiped in dealing with the effects of oxidation. that is because you need oxidation to live. you cannot obtain energy from nutrients without oxidat...

Re: SSRI drugs decrease lifespan
The idea proposed in this study, IIRC is that anti serotonin drugs increase hunger and that the increase of hunger kind of mimics fasting somehow (body feels like there is not enough energy). I wouldnt go for anti serotonin drugs except maybe if you have severe digestive problems and a wai inspired ...

Re: Serotonin Good or Bad? Wai Says vs Peat Forum
Besides serotonin, do you think any other hormone / neurotransmitter is either good or bad? Or is it all about balance versus imbalance? I don't think serotonin role in the gut is necessarily bad. I guess it kind of makes sure bad stuff gets out as soon as possible. So if there is indeed bad stuff,...

Re: Serotonin Good or Bad? Wai Says vs Peat Forum
I think serotonin roles in gut irritation and diarrhea is well known. Here are some sources. http://www.fasebj.org/content/26/1_Supplement/1108.4 : In conclusion, our results indicate that abnormally increased serotonin acts as a pro-inflammatory and pro-angiogenic factor during intestinal inflammat...

Re: Aytundra's Diary (not Wai diet)
To fall asleep, what I like to do is yoga in the dark (or in red light) until I'm so tired that I go to sleep. I have my yoga mat in my room. I try to do mainly laying positions like child pose etc. Some non stimulating other position like downward facing dog. My problem is that I can sometimes not ...

SSRI drugs decrease lifespan
See this article: http://www.nature.com/nature/journal/v450/n7169/full/nature05991.html The SSRI drugs decrease lifespan, while 5-HT2 antagonist increase lifespan (in animal model). I was wondering if serotonin is somehow related to autophagy. Here is the relevant table: http://i.imgur.com/lCDlZCG.p...

I think baking soda is pretty pure and will be metabolized to Na and carbon dioxide in your body.
I often put it in fresh orange juice if I have time.
What do you think RRM?
