Re: ketogenic diet
RRM, first of all, a ketogenic diet can be wai or not wai, just as a fruitarian diet can be wai or non wai since the best version is a raw wai ketogenic diet, why put it in non-wai section? when fasting, you can only compensate for an energy demand through consuming bodily energy stores, no matter w...

Re: ketogenic diet
To extrapolate, a wai based high carb diet would no doubt be extremely superior to the current processed/cooked high carb diets, I'm not contesting that at all, the problem is it's often not possible, too expensive, in terms of either time, money, or travel, and still retains the addiction for carb-...

Re: ketogenic diet
I agree, but it's just passion, I tried calmly stating the obvious appeal of a keto diet but it didn't work, so hopefully treating RRM like he's acting like an idiot (which I don't think I've ever done to him since he's usually scientifically very objective) will provide the stimuli necessary for a ...

Re: ketogenic diet
Imagine a flat line representing insulin level. This represents fasting lets say, and also results in death if not countered by high energy intake. High energy intake would be a line that spikes up by a lot. Nutritional ketosis would be a moderate energy intake which is represented by a line that go...

Re: ketogenic diet
RRM, you are flat out using a binocular approach to this topic, which is making you delusional. Yes fasting has a greater food based energy deficit than a ketogenic diet, that is the most narrow way ever to approach this topic, since fasting causes death as a diet plan. Are you saying fasting foreve...

Re: The Long Journey
'emotional biochemistry' has a foundation in evolution, but just like lifespan, and even more so than lifespan, emotional perspective is shaped by society, culture, and the environment even if no mutations take place. For example, I don't need any 'emotional biochemistry adaptation' from evolution t...

Re: The Long Journey
I don't think I know better because of my lack of experience, my worldview is that everything is determined by physics, that means no superstitious beliefs, no such thing as time, free will, etc. There are just events and physics causing those events to me. In that world, a human is no more special ...

Re: ketogenic diet
No extra large protein meals, but small protein meals are okay on a ketogenic diet (large protein meals get converted into glucose) Protein should be eaten with fat of course, like with raw fish or 70% lean beef, but there will still be some protein intake and some insulin increase, but this isn't a...

Re: ketogenic diet
The ability of the human body to eventually repair itself kept staring me in the face, but it never really sank in for a long time. How I portray it to other people would be to remind them that a woman who has a baby, with some illness or med problem herself, may (not in all cases) create a new body...

Re: ketogenic diet
Oh and how ketosis cures diabetes - I can't remember which, but one form of diabetes is only treatable not curable with ketosis, the other type (less severe) and pre-diabetes are completely and easily curable with ketosis, in the short term. It works by not spiking insulin, eventually your body repa...

Re: The Long Journey
There are animals which live longer than us, and animals which live shorter lifespans than us. We are animals. If we evolved to live for 200, 300, 400, or 1, 2, 3 years, our emotions and tolerance would adjust accordingly. I see some of that rigidness in you, to not be open to this kind of universal...

Re: ketogenic diet
RRM what you said makes no sense. If someone fasts to go into starvation mode, they go into ketosis, getting most of their energy from ketones and fat stores, not external carbs, because they're not eating. Nutritional ketosis is simply prolonging that state by eating mostly fats, rather than exhaus...

Ketosis
My 2 cents is that a raw wai keto diet, gives you the most life expectancy, since it's basically the bodies starvation mode. In my opinion, all the evidence linking calorie restriction to extended lifespan in rats or whatever, is probably linked to the inevitable increased degree of ketogenic metabo...

Re: ketogenic diet
There are atkins diet candies in the store, and some regular candies, that say they have like 1g, 2g, 3g, or 0 g net carbs, they subtract sugar alcohols and fiber. I don't believe in this. I don't believe in fiber (some may be totally fine, but I don't seek it out). I'm all about total carbs, since ...

Re: ketogenic diet
Also, as I posted a while back, before keto diet I was drinking a lot of chocolate milk, now I still eat natural full fat cheese, but by body tells me really well when I've had enough, and I don't even drink full fat milk, as it seems to have a few carbs, and even a few carbs can induce cravings for...
