Re: Wai Warrior - for autophagy - AN EXPERIMENT
It doesn't make sense to me to regularly engage in a sustained vigorous rate of exercise that is stressful to the point of adrenalin/cortisol release (e.g. simulated fight-or-flight). Having read the description of your exercise regimen it doesn't seem to me that you do this, RRM. I prefer walking a...

Re: Wai Warrior - for autophagy - AN EXPERIMENT
Apparently many primates often consume their entire day's food intake in a single concentrated one-hour foraging window.

Re: Wai Diet and Ketatosis Pilaris?
Old thread, I know, but I thought that this would be worth mentioning. I don't tolerate egg yolk. When I consume them it triggers keratosis pilaris among other symptoms. With strict avoidance I have found that it clears up within a few days and doesn't return.

Re: Special regime for teeth
I agree with brushing only twice a day (once upon rising before first meal, once before bed min 1.5 hours after last acidic meal). Something interesting that I discovered upon returning to Wai is that when I have yolks - a food that I don't tolerate, but can eat without much risk - I develop soft pl...

Re: Strictly carnivorous diet
Inuit would obtain vitamin C by eating the adrenal glands of the mammals they killed. Also there is glycogen in muscle tissue of fresh kill.

Re: Sodium Deficiency
Thanks, Aytundra. In terms of adequate sodium, I meant sustain as in "to not eventually incur symptoms of sodium deficiency due to insufficient intake". Since RRM's K:Na ratio has been around 50:1 for nearly 20 years, I'm guessing it works for him, but perhaps others may need to experiment with leve...

Re: Sodium Deficiency
Is it true that there is an important distinction between the sodium found in food and that which is found in table/sea salt? From what I've read sodium chloride has a biocidal effect and certainly hurts like hell when placed on open wounds/eyes (for the record I've never intentionally put salt in m...

Re: Fructose intolerance
Ahh... I see the errors: 1.) the database lists the NDB # for OJ from concentrate next to sugars on the raw OJ page; 2.) I did't notice this fact. LOL! Strange... why would there be such a large discrepancy between raw and concentrate levels for fructose? That can't be right... Would you be able to ...

Re: Fructose intolerance
Just a correction... OJ contains only .22g fructose in excess of glucose per cup. I just consulted the USDA database and there appears to be an error in the Wai calculator as far as this value goes. Still .22g is significant if one cannot deal with free fructose at all as in my case it would yield 3...

Re: Fructose intolerance
The easy workaround for fructose malabsorbers is to mix enough dextrose powder by weight to cover off excess free fructose. Easy to purchase in bulk sections of markets and quite easy to mix with OJ which does have quite some (1.25g) free fructose per cup.

Haven't. Am familiar with brown fat, but also familiar with human amylase gene evolution. Enjoying success with large potato/carrot mash (no skin...saponins) meals in the evening. Say... 3Lbs baked potato (ohhh fire), 1.5Lbs carrots, 1/4 cup fat (OO?). Realized the other day that I was eating baby f...

There's a possible unexpected benefit of a warrior-style (Wai or not) diet, I think: improved tolerance for cold weather.
