protein metabolism in cetacean mammals

http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2010/02/100219-health-dolphins-diabetes-switch-humans-cure-medicine/ This is not really linked to the discussion about Neanderthals (above), but relates to the overall hypothesis on this site about why humans developed the way they did, the importance of suga...

Did you find any parts of the hypothesis of the author persuasive, RRM?

http://www.edge.org/3rd_culture/wrangham/wrangham_index.html#vid I find this interesting only in that he has drawn some sweeping conclusions (particularly about women's roles in preparing food) that rest on his initial assertions. If one takes away a few points on which he clearly seems underinforme...

Candida/diet

It can take months (up to a year or more)-- but the real answer is: it takes as long as it takes to heal in any way.

Bk on cooked food

There is a book on cooked food called "Catching Fire," published last year and written by Richard Wrangham. Here is a synopsis of one part on raw food (I am sorry but I could not retrace the online source of this book review): Even today, when top quality produce is readily available, "raw-foodists"...

vinegar

Yes; I buy huge containers of white vinegar at bulk costs and use a lot but it is still cheap, I think! And it removes almost anything one can think of that would ever be a problem.

50% vinegar/50% water removes almost any residues. It is cheap and effective.

veal

I think, from what friends have told me, it is the crating/immobilizing of the calves that is hard to stomach... (The muscles are kept underused so the flesh is 'soft' by confining the calves in tiny containers so that their motion is greatly limited). It sounds like maybe there is a different stand...

humane

But isn't veal raised inhumanely? (RRM, you've mentioned enjoying raw veal)...I have seen organic and small farms in the U.S. that sell humanely-raised beef, but they never deal in veal calves, usually because of concerns about humane treatment.

mercury

The best source on this topic in the U.S. is Andy Cutler, a layperson, who wrote a book about a protocol using DMSA to clear mercury after fillings have been removed. There is short-term circulating mercury, as well as that stored deeply in tissues, and there is no reason to undertake the therapies ...

response

I am sorry too if my post seemed counter to my meaning, which was only to sincerely say: many things have causes that are difficult to tease out, and few things are repeating in nature. But RRM's questions have sensitively shown how one might approach something that indeed may be complex. Again, my ...

I truly thought the original Wai site's page on this was trying to establish that this still holds... but- as we both agree- I think NO.

well okay

Maybe back at the dawn of time.... It doesn't make sense now, though. I mean-- if women are artificially "controlled," kept in the same essential "survival" state as the oldest hominids-- then yes. When you are pregnant or nursing for years; when there is an undeniable advantage to the larger/strong...
