Re: Copper in pillows and socks

I searched it up originally because of it's anti-fungal properties (I have dandruff, and the same thing on my eyes, eyebrows, nose, chest, and back). Research seems to point out that the copper is helping people's skin in general.

Re: 3 day fasting triggers immune system regeneration

So the symptoms of accelerated ageing aren't gradual? For example, skin becomes gradually more wrinkly with age, no? Of all the skin cells, some age much faster than others, due to differential exposure to toxins, radiation etc. So, as you age, some of these cells will reach the finish line first, ...

Re: inulin, polydextrose, erythritol

Contrary to the expectation of resistance to both antibiotics, Bacteroides declined with gentamicin in cultures supplemented with inulin, and with ampicillin in cultures supplemented with pectin (although growth with ampicillin had recovered by 30 h). Maybe I'm understanding this wrong. Bacteroides...

Re: inulin, polydextrose, erythritol

Even more off-topic... I thought that only the adaptive immune system can be trained, e.g. 'memory cells' which create specific anti-bodies. Maybe I'm wrong about that (which is why babies exposed to germs would have stronger immune systems). In that case, should I just make a point of exposing myse...

My understanding is that in this test the prebiotics helps prevent the antibiotics from unbalancing gut microbes, yes? Actually, they state that: " antibiotics often negated the beneficial effects of dietary supplementation, in some treatment combinations... ameliorated the effects of antibiotics "...

Re: inulin, polydextrose, erythritol

In your gut there are over 400 different species of bacteria. They need to be in balance. Normally, they are kept in balance by your defense system, and by the diet that you eat. If specific bacteria become too strong, we go for the nuclear option: anti-biotics. Antiobiotics are like chemotherapy, ...

Re: inulin, polydextrose, erythritol

Huh, why not? Its actually the other way around: if your gut defense is already very strong, the bacteria hardly have any effect, other than keeping your defense up to par. If however, your defense is less strong, fighting bacteria will definitely make your defense stronger. Similarly to working ou...

Sorry to make another fiber thread, although it's not really a 'fiber' thread. Whereas water-soluble fibers tend to slow the movement of food, insoluble fibers tend to accelerate it. Currently, they also label some poly-sugars as fibers, while they are actually not fibrous. (eg inulin (fructans) and...

Re: What do bloodwork results mean?

Ok, so I found this site, https://www.vitamindcouncil.org/further-topics/i-tested-my-vitamin-d-level-what-do-my-results-mean/ Which says I'm deficient in D3 according to these results (even though I'm already supplementing). It seems instead of taking 1 pill of 1000iu per day, I should take 3 or 4 (...

What do bloodwork results mean?

Hi. So I had blood-work done (sorry, it's in Turkish, but I think most medical terms sound the same in every language. If there's something that doesn't make sense [isn't an English cognate], I can put it into google translate). The doc said everything is good, but I see most of my 'scores' fall ver...

Re: vitamin supplements may shorten lifespan

I'm not seeing anything about doses; I can understand that unnaturally high doses would shorten lifespan, but how could taking moderate doses (half the RDA for each nutrient, and less for calcium) reduce people's life spans? Ann Walker pointed out they used some terminally ill patients in the study,...

Re: Seborrheic dermatitis

I've been washing daily, and it's helped (and I notice when I don't wash, it worsens). Washing with Tea Tree oil also helps. I tried Vaseline years ago, and it worked amazingly at first, but then after some time stopped working. What I've noticed is almost anything I try works at first, and then lat...
