Yolks with sashimi

Post by Mr. PC »

Mixing yolk with Sashimi doesn't seem appetizing to me; it's like fat with fat. Is it seriously good like that? I wonder what else I could dip in yolk. . .

Its seriously that good, and maybe thats because its fat with fat,
since it doesnt really matter whether you take salmon with egg yolks,
tuna with egg yolk,
or beef with egg yolks; its all delicious.
And the only fruit that combines well with egg yolk,
is avocado, which is also fatty...
Please try.

I know that when I get Sashimi from a restaurant it's amazing, but when I eat it at home (right now), it's slimy and not-so-good. (depending, I have had good salmon in the past).

There was a time when I found eggyolk delicious, and I started sucking it straight out of the bag because I simply couldn't wait to eat it (like when you're picking strawberries and keep eating them as fast as you pick them, even though you intended to save them).
These days the yolks aren't as good; I don't know why. Maybe I'll switch to organic, and than try it (with *fresh* salmon).

Slimy fish means its too old.
Just try the same yolks that you are consuming these days, but this time try them on (fresh) salmon, tuna or beef.

Ah, you branched this off; thanks. So I should stop getting the frozen fish, which used to work for me but now ends up slimy most of the time. There is 'Sushi Grade' frozen, which I assume means was frozen while fresh, so maybe that would taste better.
Do you cut it into squares to dip? So there's like, a plate with little squares of Sashimi, which are easy to stab with a fork and dip in the yolk?

Probably, indeed.

Well, sometimes i just have one piece of beef in my right hand and a bowl with egg yolk in my left hand,
and i simply dip the beef in the yolk and take a bite.
Or i just randomly cut fish in a few slices, and use chopsticks to dip the fish in the egg yolk.
Or i just pour the yolk over the slices of fish/beef in a bowl.

You hold the entire piece of raw-beef in your hand and dip it into the bowl, before taking a bite out of it? Sounds like something I would do! (while everyone around watches in disgust).

Yes, but it only works for really tender beef, because otherwise it may take a while before you have chewed off a bit. :)
