Bird flu, raw eggs, and vaccinations

Post by zazuna »

I bought home eggs yesterday and was amazed at how different egg yolk looked from those that I find in eggs from stores. Although I ate it with avocado, it seems that home egg yolk tasted better and did not have a smell like the store eggs. So I liked it on the whole.

At the same time, today I want to eat another home egg but I went just in case online and googled latest news on bird flu and the connection between bird flu and raw eggs.

Well, all the information sites tell to cook eggs as it provides a sure guarantee against getting the flu.

However, I have also found this website, which is not directly about raw eggs, but discusses a Natural Hygiene approach to bird flu--plenty of bedrest and fluids (freshly made vegetable and watermelon juices). The doctor himself does not look very well on the picture, very chubby and clearly obese. But, although I did not understand clearly enough, he suggests the juice fasting as a medicinal approach, which does not mean that he fasts all the time--just when he gets a flu or cold.

Let me know what you all think about his ideas. His fasting is very much in line with Wai's principles and, of course, in the context of growing fears of bird flu, Waians stand to withstand/survive the infection very easily.

Interestingly, he says that diet of uncooked raw foods and fresh fluids will help but he mentions consuming egg yolk BUT "soft-boiled"--I wonder, soft-boiled is not raw and is not uncooked. hmmmm....

Anyways, it seems that sticking to raw diet will help fight bird flu.

SO, should I continue buying home eggs? It seems that chances of getting infected with the avian flu are higher if I consume raw eggs--because virus is contained both on the surface and inside the egg, In fact, even separating yolk from white by hands can cause infection, not speaking about consuming it raw.

The quality of home eggs is undeniably better though.

Another question that I have for everyone----what about vaccinations?
I am required to do several against hepatitis and tuberculosis for my graduate school. Is it really necessary?

I do think in many ways it is dangerous. Or, maybe I am wrong, and vaccination is really another way of increasing your immunity just like in case of consuming raw egg yolk?

We discussed the bird flu in this topic: http://www.acneboard.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=97

So keep eating home eggs. :)

I'm not sure about vaccinations, but there are quite a number of people who argue they might not be so good. For instance Dr Mercola: http://www.mercola.com/article/vaccines ... health.htm. Maybe you'd want to look around a bit more before deciding whether or not to take the vaccines.

Good Morning zazuna,

What are 'home' eggs? Did a quick google, but still not sure what you mean. How are the yolks different?

I looked at the picture. I see what you mean and am looking forward to reading what he has to say.

If you're required, it sounds necessary. Define 'required'- do you have a say in the matter? I know you'll find the fence pretty crowded with dos and don'ts. I wouldn't want to, but then again, I don't leave the house much. If I did...hmmm...I feel an X-File episode coming on

Best wishes

Avalon :)
