Reducing Insulin caused by starch with Fat

Post by Mr. PC »

I couldn't find this anywhere on the site. Eating a starchy food, like rice, of course will use up considerable amounts of energy. This is probably true but I don't like to assume, so

does eating starch slowly, use up significantly less insulin than a starchy meal?
does consuming fat during / after consuming starch, help with insulin?
does consuming simple sugar make the effects of starch worse / less severe / no different?
anything else a person eating rice regularly should know?

Thanks

Yes, the more a big meal is cut up in smaller portions,
the less insulin is required.

Yes, if blood fatty acid level is high, excess glucose is more easily stored as body fat,
triggering less insulin.
does consuming simple sugar make the effects of starch worse / less severe / no different?
If simple sugars are simply added, yes, as 2 + 1 > 2.
When some simple sugars replace some starch, it may make no difference or reduce insulin a bit,
as the simple sugars are absorbed before the starch is.
If too much simple sugars are added (replacing starch), there will be a higher insulin peak
(due to simultaneous absorption)
