What oil? Which vinegar? What about sugar?

Hemp oil

Post by Mellis »

Sweet fruits like banana and mango go well with coconut oil I find. For cucumber, apple or oranges - olive oil.

What about hemp oil? I found a raw food shop that sells all three oils, and more, cold pressed. Any advise or opinion from any one would be great.

Hemp seed oil contains very high levels of LA and ALA; about 55% linoleic acid (LA) and 22% alpha-linolenic acid (ALA),
which are essential fatty acids (omega-6 and omega-3).
Regarding the composition of other omega-3 (DHA, EPA) and -6 fats, these 2 fatty acids compete for the same enzymes,
so that they must be provided in good balance (and in this case they are).
Consuming 30 ml hemp seed oil / day over a period of 4 weeks did not alter that balance, so that this intake may be considered safe.
It does not stimulate the levels of serum DHA and EPA as fish oil does though.
So, its better to consume raw fish instead.
