Almonds to be pasteurized.

Post by Mark »

The Kalifornian almond industry has approved a plan to implement mandatory almond pasteurization of all Kalifornian almonds later this year:

I suppose my almond sprouting days are numbered. Boo hiss! :(

And they plan to continue calling them "raw," which is fraud. :x
By their fruits shall ye know them.

Yes, they systematically try to eliminate all real raw foods.
Its hard to tell whether that is on purpose, or just a 'side effect' (of being scared of bacteria, worms etc)

I think this only applies to shelled almonds, as the "Handler", in charge of the pasteurization, is listed after the Huller/Sheller in the chart on the webpage. I think if we keep buying them in the shell, we'll be ok. :)
