Too many nuts?

Post by rischott »

Recently, the local grocery store has had a deal on bulk mixed nuts ($1/pound)(Less than 1 euro/500 grams). The nuts are Brazil, Almond, Hazel, Walnut, and Pecan. One day I consumed almost half a pound (250 grams). Well, that is before shelling, so i'm not sure how much weight the shell takes up, maybe half? Whatever the ratio, Is this too much?

I haven't felt ill, and in fact, eating the nuts completely helps me not eat munch food. It has killed my crazings. But still worried that 200-300 grams (before shelling) of nuts is too much????

As a note, I consume 6 to 8 yolks a day most of the week and consume 150 to 250 grams of salmon plus 2 to 4 yolks a few days a week.

That depends, because its individually VERY different.
Yes, it helps to fight cravings.
But if you are susceptible to acne, it might very well cause acne.
If not, it might be perfectly fine.
Besides the nuts, your protein intake seems fine, but when the nuts are included, you may retain a little more water (which is a problem if you are susceptible to acne).
Or not...

hmmm, not much of a decisive answer, is it?

Thank you.....I dont' have a problem with acne, so i'm not worried about breaking out. Just concerned about over eating them. My body hasn't shouted, "stop eating them now" yet, so I presume no worries.
Cheers.

sometimes (especially before menstruation) I can eat up to 400 grams of nuts per day.
400g nuts before shelling.

Wow, do you shell them manually? Because otherwise alot of the PUFAs in the nuts will oxidize that might cause a lot of damage.

But 400g is also a lot energy wise.. I can only binge on nuts if I buy them preshelled. Probably due to addictive substances due to cracking them by using heat?

Maybe. You never tend to overeat on (shelled manually) raw nuts?

Yes, with a knife.
It is more mindless and habitual eating, so it is hard to stop.

Maybe.
You may try coconut oil, or simply a different olive oil.
Most of them dont cause that burning sensation.

I find the taste of coconut oil most satisfying. It actually is a good tasting fat.

I tried cocoa butter, ghee, olive oil, coconut oil, red palm oil. And coconut oil is definetely the best tasting substance, ghee comes afterwards but due to oxycholesterol problems it might be bad.
