This might seem silly and I am not sure if anyone has asked. But I was curious how many say fairly large oranges does it take to make a litre of juice?
I don't know! The best way to find out is to buy some and juice em'.
I have figured out that it is much cheaper to buy from a fruit and producer seller, than going to a grocery store. The fruit and vegetable wholesaler is whom the grocery stores buy their oranges from and you'll get a box of oranges that will be far less cheaper. I go there twice a week to get all my oranges for the week.
It very much depends on the specie and size of the oranges, but it ranges from 5 to 9 oranges for a big glass.
I believe its averagely 24 for 1.5L., so about 16 for 1L.
How much do the rest of you juicers pay per litre of raw orange juice???
I'm paying £2.50 for 1 litre of orange juice a day. The rest of you are probably paying for whole oranges, how much do you pay to produce 1 litre of juice? thanks
I buy a 10KG box of Mandarins and it lasts me about 4 days (i juice a 1-11/2 liter/day). The box costs between 10 to 15 U.S. dollars. That equals about 3 to 4 dollars per liter.
It costs me around £2.50 (at Tesco) just to buy the oranges to make 1 litre of juice (i.e. about 8 good-sized oranges). Organic 'gently pasteurised' juice costs even more than that in the UK, sometimes up to £3.25 for 'good' brands. That is why I don't drink juice on this diet at all - I refuse to consume pasteurised juice, and buying fresh oranges is too expensive. At least I am not trying to put on muscle weight - then I would be in a tricky situation. Perhaps then I would search around town for all the immigrant shops where you can buy oranges for less.
