Easy OJ alternatives (loss of crops in CA)

Post by Brian »

I imagine most people here have heard the news about the loss of crops in California.

A case of oranges has already jumped in price from $16/case to $40/case, and I have heard that the price will continue to rise.

Can anyone offer any suggestions to replace navel oranges?
I am strongly considering Chinese mandarins.
Possibly apples, but they could be a hassle to juice.

It depends on what is readily available for you, I guess.
Maybe watermelons? (or other melons)
Juicing apples is not that much a hassle if you have the right juicer, by the way, and it may be cheaper, no?

That is?

Are you talking about a "press"?

Ehh, I mean that machine that centrifugates the juice out of the pulp after cutting the apple in small pieces first.

There are Texas Juice Oranges and Floridia too.
