Since then, RRM and Oscar both have reclaimed the statement that frozen fish causes acne. I asked if there where to be made any changes in the original book, due to this new discovery. To my understanding, changes where planned, but I guess it has not yet been made.

Still not, sorry
We initially though that frozen fish might cause acne due to the fact that raw herring does, but that appeared to be due to that they are salted as well (salted and deep frozen).

ok. But you do know that it says do not freeze anything...not just fish, right? Shyt if I knew I could eat frozen fruit I would be eating so much better right now. Fresh fruit is very expensive right now because we are in a recession here in the states.

No, in the sense that most cells have been ruptured, so that they deteriorate rapidly.
I am thinking of buying frozen durians to eat. I just want to make sure that it is perfectly alright to eat it? It is not harmful to my health?
No, not harmful.

Kookaburra wrote:I just bought a frozen durian yesterday. Do frozen fruits continue to ripe? Or is the ripening process 'dead'?
Freezing ruptures the cells, and that will cause the fruits to rot after having been frozen.
So, no more ripening, just rotting.
Kookaburra wrote:How long do frozen fruits take to defrost?
A couple of hours; That depends on how much water they contain (becoming ice in the freezer),
how big they (or the chunks) are,
and on what the outside temp is.
Luckily its very easy to tell: when the fruit gets softer, it gets unfrozen! :P
Kookaburra wrote:For frozen fruits, do I need to store them in the freezer if I do not want to eat them yet?
Yes.

No, as deterioration starts immediately.
Oh no! The frozen durian that I bought on Sunday has been sitting at the table outside for 4 days now. Is it still safe to eat? The durian has a very hard shell so I don't think it will deteriorate that fast?
The good thing about fruits is that deterioration does not make it dangerous to eat,
its just that it will be fizzy, with bubbles and a little alcohol, and the taste will probably be not so nice.
So you can just try it, and if its not good anymore, you throw it away.
The shell doesnt matter/help, as the fruit will deteriorate from the inside.

Kookaburra wrote:The tag that came along with the frozen durian stated that it is good till January next year. How can it last that long?
when you bought it, it was frozen, right?
Thats why it can last so long: if you keep it frozen all the time.

No.
Why would the authorities want to irradiate frozen fruits
to eliminate parasites that are not eliminated by freezing.
