They contain the seeds of the plant and are as such classified as fruits.

Its hard though, because if we interpret those classifications strictly, there are always a lot of foods not falling in any, or in multiple categories.
Classifications may need adjustments depending on the purpose of the need for classification; purely botanical? or to set standards for what is best edible?
In nature, there are always exceptions to those classifications.

In the wai diet case, it wouldn't be more about the no anti-nutritional factors?

I would say yes to this. The classification isn't as important as the amounts of nutrients and anti-nutrients. But for the most part you will find that fruits typically meet these criteria.
