Imported fruits

Post by Kookaburra »

I am just wondering, is imported fruits safe to eat? Here is my opinion.

1) They had to travel quite a distance to reach the local stores. For example, a kiwifruit from New Zealand that is exported to Canada. Won't the fruit turn bad due to all the 'travelling'? If you take a 24 hour flight, you will definitely be jet lagged.

2) The imported fruits have to clear customs, doesn't it? They have to go through an X-ray machine to check for possible weapons hidden in it for the sake of security. Won't the X ray radiation destroy the fruit? Isn't it a form of cooking? In fact, its similar to microwave cooking, isn't it? And since microwaved food is very bad for it contains 'dirty' protein and originates toxic substances, shouldn't imported fruits be classified the same too? What about the metal detectors? Does it emit any form of radiation too?

For those fruits I dont see any difference between sitting in a crate in a store
and sitting in a crate in a plane or boat.

That radiation is minimal.
