Fruit & fat

Post by sinz »

Is it better to consume fruit with fat, or have some fat after the fruit?

I'm often having a meal of papaya, goji berries, and coconut butter. I get a little tired soon after for a little while, then my energy picks up. I'm wondering if it would be better to have just the papaya and gojis, then right after have a spoonful of the coconut butter? Just wondering what is better for blood sugar levels.

It doesnt make a difference.

It depends on the size of the meal and the frequency of your meals.
It may be that the size of the meal is a little too big, which would cause an initial drop in energy.
It may also just be the coconut butter.
So, you may experiment with these 2 options:
1) decrease the size of your meals, and increase your meal frequency.
2) decrease the intake of the coconut butter,
and also increase your meal frequency (to compensate for less energy from fat)

We have introduced this 'fat with fruit rule' to the diet particularly for beginners.
Thats because people who are new to this diet, are new to eating as frequently as we do.
And this almost always results in that beginners simple do not eat frequently enough,
which makes them feel tired and weak,
due to too much fluctuation blood sugar levels.
Consuming fat with every meal helps preventing the intake of too much fruit sugars in one meal,
and also helps maintaining the blood sugar level. ('sparing' glucose)
Consuming less fat will require you to consume some food more frequently,
and for that you will need to learn to listen to your blood energy levels.
whenever your energy levels go down a bit, you need to eat or drink something (even just a little).

Good that you mention it. (as i didnt notice them being listed)
Goji berries are not digested properly when consumed raw.
They are normally cooked before consumption, or processed in some other way,
as they naturally contain all kind anti-nutrients.
Some birds can perfectly digest them though.

How much fat to take

Post by dcboyer02 »

Hi,

I'm trying to figure out how much fat to take after fruit.

Specifically right now I eat about 3 cups of watermelon every morning, how much coconut oil should I take after/with that?

Also, I often eat pears/bananas as snack, how much oil after those items?

Thanks

I'd say about half a table spoon.
