Juicing (small) bananas

Post by RRM »

Using the slow juicer / masticating juicer, such as the versapers,
its beneficial if a fruit contains relatively little fiber (like melon) and relatively much water (juice).
Bananas contain relatively little water (juice).
I found that as compared to 'normal' bananas, small ('baby') bananas,
as they normally grow in many african and south american countries,
yield much more juice.
Using the sieve with smallest holes on my Versapers, big ('normal') bananas yield 1L of juice on 2L of waste,
whereas with baby bananas thats 2L of juice on 1L of waste!

Aren't they more expensive? I've never tried them.

I always let the bananas run 5 times through the machine. There will be a bit of fiber in the juice, but it's so soft and the taste is so sweet that this doesn't bother me. I only have 1-2 tablespoons of fiber from 5-6 bananas if I first ripen them perfectly in a paper bag with a few small holes in the fridge.

I noticed the same with mangoes

Yes, of course, the more often juiced, the more (including fiber) will be pressed through.
