or is the OO necessary or helpful to keep the bowels moving ?

OJ without OO works fine, but it's a bit harder to control your blood sugar level. You don't need the OO for bowel movement.

The more physically active you normally are, the more sugars you need relative to fat.
That is because muscles use sugars.
So, if often physically active, you may need little fat.
If often physically inactive, your energy intake will be smaller and oo is very helful in keeping your energy levels stable (2 very different sources of fuel instead of just one short lived source)
OO also helps to eliminate excess sugar. (stored as glycerol in triglycerides)
