I'm back on the diet

Post by gianni »

Hello everyone,

I was very glad to find the forum still up and running when I found my way back to the waisays diet. Thank you for still being here.

This is my third time trying this diet, and hopefully this time I can find a way to make it work for me. This time around I realize that I can't eat any cooked foods, and I may not be able to eat fish. I don't have acne, but I have health issues that keep me from enjoying life.

I have been following the sample diet for about 5 days now and am already seeing improvement.

Any chance of letting us know what kind of health problems
you struggle with?

Good luck! :)

I've had chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, chemical sensitivity, hypoglycemia, hypothyroid, and everything that goes along with all of those issues for many years. Besides being born with something wrong maybe due to stress and bad diet of my mother, I think that they were brought on by stress in my own life along with wrong diet, heavy metal and pesticide toxins, and the viral and bacterial issues that they cause.

Thank you for asking.

Ok, thank you very much for sharing!

I am glad that this diet seems to help you with your health
problems, and I wish you the best of luck with staying on
this diet for good this time.

Make sure to eat a lot of animal foods, as it seems this
makes cravings for munch foods less severe, in several
cases.

Also, take good care of your teeth. I always stress this, because
this is so far the only negative aspect I have found with this diet.
It can be too high in acidic fruit, resulting in damaged teeth enamel.

Just wanted to give some feedback from an other perspective. I have had improved dental health since moving to this diet. I take no precautions when drinking juice. I mean I don't use a straw or rinse my mouth out afterward. I have made a conscious change recently to keep my mouth closed and breath through my nose when I'm not using it.

I just don't want people to associate this diet with bad teeth. I have seen many raw fooders who eat a ton of fruit with bad teeth. These people are usually vegan and could be suffering from malnutrition.

Well, it seems that teeth problems are quite common on this diet.
The teeth thread is one of the longest on the forums, and multiple
members report sensitive teeth, receeding gums, discoloration etc.

I am not saying this diet is a highway to bad dental health, I am just
sharing my own experience, trying to help others avoid the mistakes
I might have made, such as eating too much acidic fruit, driniking too
much juice, not brushing the right way/with the right brush etc.

The dentist said that my enamel was damaged from acidic foods
because it was only one the outeside of the teeth. I never had this
damage before the Wai diet.

What is too much juice or acidic fruit? many use acidic juice as a staple source of there fruit calories and don't have trouble

This is relatively insignificant being that it is a sample size of one. I would like to know if more people have had problems when switching to this diet. I have been on this diet (some times strictly sometimes less strictly) since around 2001 and have had no dental problems. To conclude that this diet won't cause dental problems based on my experience would also be insignificant.

There are many factors that determine our health (dental included), this diet may have contributed to your dental issues (or not) but may not be the root cause. It is really hard to make these things clear unless you have a large sample group and lots of control over the environment.

I'm just saying we can't really conclude anything with what we have.

I am not concluding, just sharing my experience.

OK, I guess I misunderstood. I though when you said something to the effect of I've found this diet to be hard on my teeth, that you where saying this diet was hard on your teeth and therefore hard on teeth in general.

Concluding is the word I use, sharing is your word.

If you want to get into the semantics of this we should probably define our terms.

to be clear, by concluding I meant that you decided that this diet is hard on teeth (in general).

I just don't want people to get the idea that this diet causes dental problems. That is my only point.

I hope you don't take this in the wrong way, the last thing I want to do is upset you. If I come across as hostile or rude, that is not my intention and apologize for my lack of communication skills.
