Teeth
I use glycerin as toothpaste (liquid, plain in a bottle; same kind I use on the skin). It works very well.
Toothpaste
Dear RRM, The spirit of invention.
It seems when you brush with a brush what is really needed is some kind of innocuous lubricant for the brush to do its work, that is all.
Glycerin is an alcohol though, no? Perhaps it is harsh.

Glycerin
Yes, it is a small bottle of 100% vegetable-quality glycerin.
It cleans better than any paste; it is not just that it leaves a feeling of a slick surface because of its consistency; it actually seems to clean well and allow the brush to do its work.
Glycerin is an everyday ingredient in commercial toothpastes [in the United States], of course, too. It is found in everything here.

Hi Marty,
I think I read somewhere that the problem with glycerin is that it coats your teeth and prevents remineralization of your teeth- if you believe in that sorta thing.![Smile :)](./images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)
here's a good page for some who knows, inf:

An interesting video about water fluoridation. This is mostly a concern for people living in parts of the US, where the water is still fluoridized, but also for people using toothpaste containing fluoride, which is most of the (western) world now.

fillings
I am not sure if a discussion of this appears elsewhere (undoubtedly it does); have RRM or Oscar posted regarding mercury in fillings)?
I have several very small fillings in the back of the mouth; I have had them since I was a child.
