sufficient vitamin B3?

Post by 1717 »

According to the nutrientional value calculator I'll only be getting 3.5 (RDA is 20) mg of B3 and my question is how much B3 is really needed for a person who is still growing (because in another thread it said not getting certain B vitamins affects growth but he didn't mention which) ? The reason for such little B3 is because I can't get any fish and the other things Wai reccomends for B3 doesn't really have much B3 in them.

Hmm, 3.5mg per day isn't that much. What do you eat daily?

Fruit like apples, bananas, oranges contain between 2 and 3mg per 500gr (17.5oz). Therefore 2kg (70oz) fruit will contain at least 10mg already. So I'm not exactly sure how you arrive at 3.5mg per day.

I read this that triptophan gets converfted into B3(niacin) Does that mean eating egg yolks will provide me with b3 beause it contains triptophan?

All protein contains tryptophan, so yes, consuming protein provides you with tryptophan. The body will convert only as much tryptophan to B3 as required, however, and specifically fish, but also all fruits contain B3 as well.

Conversion of tryptophan into vitamin B3 is very much inhibited by bisphenol A,
(conversion was reduced to 1/15) Fukuwatari T el al
which may leak into your drink (or water) from plastic bottles,
or into your food from a plastic wrapping / container.

I always use glass bottles. Plastic bottles just don't feel and taste right. Glass taste MUCH MUCH better. Recyclying plastic bottles for your own juice consumption is even worse.
