Sugarbarbie's diary

Post by sugarbarbie »

Ok, I wish I started this before. I have been 100% on the wai diet for a while now....really just doing the 2 week sample...I didn't want to chance the acne popping back. The problem was that it was hitting the wallet waaay to hard for my family. We were spending about 50 bucks a day and are a 1 income family. After much debate about 3 weeks ago my husband convinced me that having some bulk food would be ok as long as we staye in the munch guidlines. Yes it helped out the wallet to be able to eat a filling dinner each day. The first 2 days were great I actually felt skinnier and more energized and questioned if the wai diet was even as great as I thought it was. then day 3...whoa. Once again my stomache blows up like balloon. my kids both get high fevers and begin coughing. what's weird is me and the kids hardly ever leave home. yet my husband that works and deals with people everday is fine. i have a sneaky suspicion that he's been cheating all along. A few days later the kids are doing better but I am still coughing so hard. My husband wants me to go to the doctor becasue I have been coughing so hard for about 3 weeks now but I think my body will fight this if I correct the environment in which this condition is thriving on. I am kind of happy I am sick! That's right. it gave me just the leverage I need to get us back on this diet! However, the expense and the hunger is still an issue so I have decided that instead of bulk foods such as french fries and spaghetti we will have wheatgrass and superfoods for our munch foods. The kids and my husband love it. I was scared because lettuce and other greens make me so bloated and make me do unladylike things. but the wheatgrass doesn't. I learned about wheatgrass when doing my anthony robbins program. I will let anthony robbins brainwash me until the day i die. Following his advice has made some great improvements in my life. But I was perplexed because at first glance the diet he recommends seems to be in direct violation of the wai diet. Further insiht made me realise that in fact I can adhere to both diets perfectly so I am happy. Really they say much of the same with a few differences. wai diet allows munch foods so I use wheatgrass in freshly centrifuged juice as my munch food. It tastes so good the kids ask for more and puts a smile on hubbyf face. it also keeps us full and for me is a better more convenient alternative to a salad which makes me look like a cow...I think I heard someone mooing at me the other day could have been in my mind. also both diet inforce a raw diet however Anthony robbins only reccommends alkaline fruits...no problem I came to find out that ALL the fruits I was consuming was on the alkaline list! Yes..I was surprised that lemons limes and oranges are alkaline, too cool. both diets reccommends meat on occassion wai reccommend fatty shashimi and anthony recommends oily fish lie salmon so...salmon shashimi once a week it is YES! I love the facts behind the raw egg yolk that wai gives and it so darn good I hav that throughout the week in juice also. When I take kids to the park (or will be on the road a lot) I fill a cooler up with icepacks and peel apples and oranges. I take an orange slice and rub it on the outside of the peeled apples and it keeps them from oxidiing and turning brown. this saves us from hitting the drive-threws. I also bring their sippy cups and a themos filled with juice or water with lemon/lime juice and a water bottle for me. when it's time for a drink I pour the wheatgrass packets in the sippy cups (half for them) and my water bottle and shake. they love it and so do I. seeing them eat their apples and oranges and juice with wheatgrass with more enthusiam as the kids eating their peanut butter and such down the way is fullfilling. the fruit is really cold and yummy the orange gives it an extra zing. I will be getting one of them old fashioned peelers for the apples. As of right now I peel a plate full of apples in the morning and rub them with orange slice and leave it in the frig for easy eating the kids help themselves. The water we drink is distilled. Funny how the best water is also the cheapest at the supermarket. under a dollar a gallon. we go through about 3 gallons a day. Today I found a distiller online...I will get one in the future. through out the week I put egg yolk and oo in my juice when I'm at home when I'm out in about I have a handfull of almonds. Hubby and I crack the nuts while watching a movie each night. That's our date. We had to give up on the brazil nuts and walnuts. we kept getting a bag full of rancid ones and they were sooo hard to crack just too be rancid. what a shame the one's that were'nt rancid were soo good. almonds are easier to crack and don't make me feel bad if they are rancid. We have an avocado cucumber tomatoe salad everyday. we garnish it with chives and other herbs from my balcony garden, lemon juice and oo. we love it for lunch. hopefully keeping up these wai standards and substituting the bulk foods with the wheatgrass will put me back on the health A-list. I have a recipe I found and will be posting it after I try it on sat..inlaws coming. :?

What about bananas? You don't mention bananas at all, yet they are fairly cheap and good at providing lots of energy. Also, you can add more oil to increase the caloric value, thus providing you with cheap energy. I actually buy my bananas in bulk from a fruit wholesale supplier and then freeze them for later use in smoothies. I reckon the amount of dirty protein in that is negligible compared to all the toxins I would get if I ate munch food.

So how about freezing some of your fruits instead? And how about doing like I did and calling around to see if any fruit wholeseller would supply you with fruits in bulk? Some of them agree to sell fruits to individuals as long as they are ordering a lot. You just need to call around to find out. See: http://www.esources.co.uk/international-suppliers/181
Another way is to go to your local shops and ask them for the name and telephone number of their fruit suppliers (who would probably be local too), then give them a call and try to sweet-talk and convince them into selling fruits to you in bulk (they might agree to deliver to your local shop for you to collect, or like in my case, they might even agree to deliver the fruits direct to your door)

Really? :o What else makes you think this?

Somehow I don't expect men to adhere to this diet as much as women do, especially if they don't have serious acne or health issues, and also if going on the Wai diet was not their idea.

I like how you try to plan ahead. It's a great way to keep on track. The old saying "if you fail to plan, you plan to fail" springs to mind. Well done. :)

There could be a shocking  reason for this...please watch this clip (especially from around the 4 minute mark):

I suspect that drinking ONLY distilled water is not good for your health long term due to it being stripped of many minerals. This would not be a big deal if you were still on the 100% diet as you would probably get all the nutrients you need then, but now that you are eating munch foods it might not be a good idea to be drinking distilled water. In particular I don't think its good for your children who need all the minerals they can get as their bodies are still developing.

What kind of juice, and are they balancing it out with fats/nuts? Please see this:

Bananas make me do unladylike things hehe. The kids love them soo much but will keep asking for them until they are all gone> I try to ignore them but they will drive me...bananas
as far as the distilled water I am going off of this post
http://www.acneboard.com/AcneQandA/Forum2/000006.html
when scott mentioned distilled wai seemed excited. I hear others say we need minerals in our water but I think it kinda goes against what wai teaches..that we get all we need from raw foods. I also learned that distilled was best when I took a nutrition class way back when but I totally just base it on what wai says.
I thought freezing is bad but I guess that's just for animal meat. But my plan was to start walking daily to handle my chores like he mentioned here:
http://www.freeacnebook.com/56-63.htm#61
but I hate the day sooo much. But dailly shopping will give me some excercise make kids more happy and possible turn back my clock to a day person's. We'll see.
oh yes they eat almonds.

I am a night person too  I tend to go to bed around 4 a.m., sometimes 6a.m. (if I know I can get away with it).

It's been this way for my whole life, with me struggling to be a 'day' person and fit it with normal society...especially when I was going to school, and when I started a 9 to 5 (day) job.

I recently read this and it explains everything!

But what is the solution that works? :?

Aren't the minerals in water inoganic? I thought that when plants took them in they became organic (with the addition carbon atoms) and only then can we use them as nutrients, other wise we can't assimilate then (as inoganic minerals).

Oh I just accidentally ran across the page that mentions not that fruits shouldn't be canned or frozen in any way.

Yes, always hated them. She looks at them with such disgust. I am still trying to get outside more during the day I really think that's the key.

Wow, that may actually be a good thing; green usually means unripe, or even unfit for consumption.

I've now come to a new problem. I realized I've been using the nutrition calculator all wrong. A closer examination show that the kids were getting way too much vit c according to rda...and wei says that too much vit c may cause diarrhea. My son is still diaper wearing but my daughter is toilet trained. Sometimes this will happen with my son but I always blamed it on a much food or whatever. I have been trying to get the vit c down and when I finally accomplish it I end up with everything else way too low. almost everything has vit c!. It's a lot easier with me and my husband because we'll eat just about anything but the kids are still picky.

Biogenic amines

Post by sugarbarbie »

Should the quantity of these all be 0? They were and then all of a sudden I had some of them. I googled them and found some them as really bad sounding. It took me forever to find out that grapes were the culprit. So I swore off grapes. How ironic that my husband decided to just go to the grocery store on the way back from work (he never does this) and yeah of course he had grapes.
The two that were highest were cadaverine and putrescine. And then I found this article: http://www.grahamazon.com/over/2007/11/ ... utrescine/

Which explains what was going on during my pregnancy. I drove my doctor crazy....I swore something was wrong with me. However my pregnancy craving was grapes. I ate grapes all day long. The grocery store always had them on sale for .79/lb and I would rack it up...I also was eating alot of cheese and bread (yeast) so of course everything down there was out of whack. i no longer eat bread and occassionally eat grapes so that problem is no more. Whew!

I believe 100% wai is the best way to go. However, it can be costly to stay full. he states that 4lbs of fruit would be suffient for nutrients but not energy and I would like to add to that fullness. Hunger pangs are bad. Kids go through fruit so fast. My husbands was complaining of hunger at work etc. Plus I need everything to run efficiently because I have more things to do than just peel fruit all day...and I mean alll day. So I started with typical munch foods. this took away our course to the fruit budget but everybody was getting nutrients (just enough) but also all the other stuff from munch food...we indulge in spaghetiti, etc very rarel and now mix wheatgrass with fresh juice.

I am not using wheatgrass to replace any of the diet I'm using it as a munch food only which is...in my opinion better than french fries or spaghetti or rice.
The benefits of wheatgrass is:
Help you stay full feeling...no hunger pangs. I'm guessing this is from fiber, for I experience no bloat or gas.
