The whole purpose of the acne sample diet is to give you back control over your skin.
That you have the power to make the acne go away whenever you want to.
Suppose you are in love, then maybe you want to make sure your skin is 100% clear.
Or maybe you want to do job interviews.
Once you managed to clear your skin with this diet, its all in your hands to do with it whatever you want.
Or after years and years when I reach well beyond adult hood will I be able to eat whatever without suffering from acne?
This differs very much per individual.
Some people grow over it within a year.
For others it may take ten years, or much more.
I honestly don't think I can go on longer than the 2 weeks.
There may be moments that you desperately want to have a clear skin.
Then this diet is there for you.
FoundTheWai wrote: I also lost 7 lbs during the 6 days I've been on the diet.
We dont know how much of that is from no longer retaining too much water,
but im guessing you are not consuming sufficient energy.
Seems logical to me, as this is mistake number one on this diet.
I eat enough... like 2600 calories.
why do you think that this is enough?
2000 kcal is very little.
When I wasn't on the Sample Diet, I used to eat really unhealthy foods and LOT'S of it (like I consumed around 4500 calories). For some strange reason, I never gained weight.
If you did not gain weight from eating 4500 kcal daily,
that is what your body needs.
It may also be that your actual average energy intake (and requirements) was a bit lower.
if losing weight means I'm doing something wrong
Yes, it does.
It means that you are consuming too little energy.
The easiest way to ingest more energy, is by drinking juices, with some sugar and oil added to it.
Just make sure that they are truly raw, and also not made by the use of a blender.

Alright. Guess I'll have to chug more Tropicana...
So after 2 weeks, I'm allowed to add one new thing to my diet to see if I'm sensitive to it right? Since you seem really knowledgeable about diet and stuff, I was wondering what you would recommend. I really want to eat potatoes (no salt or anything, just baked). Do you know of any foods that people respond well to? Like acne-wise.

Btw, is Tropicana okay? It says it's 100% squeezed oranges, but I'm afraid they do stuff to it... Also is there a reason for going on the sample diet for 2 weeks? If I turned clear within the first week, can I start experimenting?

Check the expiry date. Fresh OJ generally last 2 to 3 days.

the Tropicana here is not ok.
Many orange juices are from 100% squeezed juices,
which usually means obtained from juice concentrated,
but in such a way that the amount of concentrate used is the same as in the original.
Only when it (very specifically) says that its absolutely 100% freshly squeezed orange juice without any additives,
then it may be true.
"May be", because in my restaurant we sell such a juice as fresh juice,
and i can clearly taste that its not.
is there a reason for going on the sample diet for 2 weeks? If I turned clear within the first week, can I start experimenting?
Sure!
The reason why we have set this term is so that people have an idea how long it may take.
(though it may also take longer)

:D that's great.
Just curious, is there a certain food that you would recommend I start experimenting with? I know it's different for everyone, but maybe you know of foods that have generally positive reviews (acne wise).

No, once your skin is clear.
That may be sooner, or later.

Please dont get ahead of yourself.
Thirst thing first: getting clear.
Once you are clear you will not forget to repeat that question.

Great!
Congratulations!
Now you will always have a safe haven to return to for when you are breaking out again.
You could start experimenting with consuming more animal protein first.
And maybe with adding salt, secondly.
If all goes well, you could start introducing munch foods,
as described here: http://www.freeacnebook.com/47-53.htm#52

But please remember to do it gradually (one by one)
and consistently (2 weeks / introduction)

Damn... potatoes made me break out.
Guess I have to go back on the sample diet and wait to get clear again.
By more animal protein do you mean eat more raw egg yolks or sashimi? Cause honestly I don't want to eat more of those hahaha.
Should I try adding salt to... umm the egg yolks?

I was just wondering... should I spend money and do a food intolerance test? If I find out which foods I'm sensitive to, I would be able to experiment more efficiently right?

Exactly.
Too bad, because potatoes are one of the munch foods best tolerated.

Okay, i assumed that you would.
My mistake.
No, of course you dont have to!
You can also experiment with cooked / steamed veggies, which are generally well tolerated.
Should I try adding salt to... umm the egg yolks?
Yes, but you may prefer adding salt to avocado; yummy!
This experiment is important to get to know what your salt tolerance is.

No, its not about not tolerating these foods. The test will not reveal any food intolerance.
Its not that you are allergic to any of their ingredients, in any way.
It has nothing to do with that.
This is about proteins getting damaged by cooking, and salt, both hydrophylic,
which retains water in the true skin, linching off sebum canals,
which causes acne.

I broke out A LOT today. I didn't eat anything new the night before, but I ate some steamed broccoli in the morning (like 5). When I came back from school (like 4 hours later) I had a bunch of red bumps. Is this because of the broccoli or could it be from something else? Like the potato I had last week. Honestly, I ate the same amount of fruits and egg yolks... It's everywhere too. Mostly on my left cheek, forehead and my temples.

Did it have salt on it?

That was 5 days ago, so no, thats unlikely.
