There isn't such a thing that we need to produce different digestive enzymes regularly to be healthy, is there?

Of course its not impossible.
Your face will get wet if you let the water run over your face, yes.
But most shower heads can be lowered, so that you can aim it at your chest, for example.
Wait a sec, so washing my face every morning with tap water isn't that good for my skin, right...? :/

IF: trouble breathing while doing it and experience palpitations after starting to eat

Post by Novidez »

I have been noticing some symptoms while I am fasting and also after I break it:

- When I fast, I have this need to breath less. The way my body seems to do that is to contract my chest and my trachea (or whatever it is inside my chest). Also, I noticed that my upper back tend to be more compressed/tightened; I easily get in a slump position if I am not aware enough.
I have too this urge to keep moving or running and, in fact, when I do it, I feel much better and my breathing becomes normal.
Moroever, I can easily stop this feeling of 'can't breath naturally' when I start eating.
What I am thinking:
> Low CO2 in the body?
> Low glucose levels in the body?
> Both?

What to do to solve this?

- The other problem is regarding palpitations... I still have them and I can't really figure out the reason. The only thing I know is that when I eat too much energy in a short period of time, I tend to experience them more. So, I believe this is the main problem (I think. Sometimes I still experience them randomly. Nevertheless they are always more common after eating). Breaking a fast of 16 hours, for example, with such amount of energy is safe? It's best to start slow, right?

- Another thing I want to ask is if I am not hungry, should I still eat that much energy (I am talking about 2300 kcal) in a day? It's just bothers me when it is already 19h or 20h and I am still not hungry. I don't want to start eating at 22h, 23h, or maybe not eat at all that day.
I still eat because I am afraid that my hunger will spike in the middle of the night, for example, which will disturb my sleeping, or in the middle of the morning, this is, when I am not at home and where I don't have any food with me (specially egg yolks and salmon are the issue. Unless I wait till night to eat the protein... Though, probably, my body would want to eat it earlier (I guess)). I never tried to eat, for example, only 600 kcal in a day.
In a listen to your body perspective, what do you think?

(Ah!, and of course, I feel colder while fasting: cold hands, purple/blue nails.
All this solves when I do what I said above.)
Also, could the fact of the Wai Diet being essentially alkaline contributing to this also? More alkaline, the body wants to compensate increasing its CO2 levels by breathing less in order to be more acidic. Does this makes sense?

*I noticed that even after initiating the carb intake, i still have this discomfort on my chest. But, when I take my protein, specially salmon, it goes away.
**Also, immediately after waking up, I usually feel better regarding my breathing too.

If you have the urge to keep moving or running, I doubt low glucose levels. It seems more like high adrenalin to me (which rise blood glucose).

yes, and may also cause palpitations.
I never tried to eat, for example, only 600 kcal in a day.
Well, that is actually also a way of doing IF; eating very little one day, compensated by eating more the day after.
You can do IF in many different ways.
You may (for example) eat absolutely nothing on one day, compensated for in the following day.
Maybe consuming only 600 kcal in one day may suit you better than going from fasting to bulking up within 24 hours.
Everybody has a different rhythm.

RRM wrote:Maybe consuming only 600 kcal in one day may suit you better than going from fasting to bulking up within 24 hours.
But before being on Wai, I could fast quite well, I didn't have this kind of problems at all.
Even doing Regular Wai, I tend to continue feeling feel this discomfort on my throat and chest and be still restless. As I said before what I find interesting is the fact I become in a much more comfortable state after eating the salmon.

Being in this state everyday has been very counterproductive to me: I am missing much more classes, being more irresponsible, more lazy during the day and lack of will power. This is, at the moment, Wai instead of helping me is kinda doing the opposite. I really miss those days when I started it... Seriously, there was a huge spike in my mood but then it all has gone away after several weeks. Probably now, I am in a worse state than I was before being on Wai. This wasn't my goal being here for sure...

I know that feel better right after waking up - then it all goes away few minutes later after getting up - and right after eating my salmon - usually during 2/3 hours after eating it.

So, day after day, I am thinking what can I do differently to improve this situation. I know that when people are sleeping, our acid levels raise. Could that be an explanation for feeling better immediately after waking up?

Knowing that after eating my salmon I feel better, I tried to figure out what salmon has more than other foods. One thing came to my head: it has more salt (Now that I am thinking, doesn't salt makes us more acidic too? Well, I didn't think about that when I made this conclusion. So all my next steps were not based on this).

Ok, I had to try it out.

I did an experiment 3 days ago: I took some bits of salt. I actually took them while I was still fasting (I suppose that shouldn't be healthy at all), but I had to test it without any interference of any other food. Okay, this may all be placebo, but for my surprise, the tension on my chest and throat disappeared almost immediately. Somewhat weird how fast it was, actually.
My bowels also reacted to it: the sensations were the same when I ate my first Raw salmon. My body isn't adapted to salt at the moment, I guess. But, I felt better for sure.

Since then, I have been experiment it and gradually increasing its intake. Yesterday, I put around 3/4 tsp (the max dose till now) on my OJ. Or, should I say, I make two different OJs: one with salt and other without. I am literally trying to see how I feel after taking each one. I did feel a little better yesterday... Still, when I eat the salmon I tend to feel even better.
I must say also that I find it easier to notice some differences when I put some bits of salt in my mouth alone.

And here I am today. I am still feeling relaxed and (finally!) with the will to write this. I am still fasting. I have been gradually eating a bit sooner every day after waking up (kinda doing Regular Wai as I said before) because I wanted to see if foods helped me. Today, the way I am feeling now, I think I can fast all day long. But one day is one day and I do not want to start rushing conclusions.

After adding salt on my diet, this is what I have been experiencing:

Positive effects:
- I feel warmer. But seriously, waaaaaay much warmer, jesus! I have been feeling cold and with blue/purple nails every single day. Now, I can finally experience some warm hands, finally turn off my heater and not having blue/purple nails.
- Today, I am indeed feeling more relaxed: still no discomfort on my throat nor on my chest (it is still too early in the morning, so I can't really know how the rest of the day is going to be)

Negative effects:
- I am gaining weight. I don't feel like I am gaining it, because I am still pretty lean, but that's not what the weighing-machine says. It's probably due to water retention, I suppose. After being without salt this period of time, my body is clearly not adapted to it. But I guess it will adapt after some time, right?
- My right pointer is a little bit swollen (it has been such a long time I experienced this! I remember having this problem in the past quite often). Again, my body is still adapting... right?

Odd (positive? negative?) effects:
- My eyes are whiter, kind of little blueish around the iris. They are like this https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/73 ... a7c4df.jpg. Actually, I can say they are exactly the same when I started Wai.
- I (re)start yawning. You may not believe it, but I don't remember yawning, or at least yawning satisfactorily, for such a long time. I simply didn't yawn or had not need for it. And, when sometimes I had some feeling to yawn, it felt so incomplete and unpleasant. It was just me opening my mouth and closing it voluntarily, not really yawning.
- I'm noticing that Salt is quite addictive. The moment I start taking it, my mind is all over the salt. Why does this happen? Is it related to any mineral imbalance in the body? Does salt have addictive properties on the brain? Does it act like a drug?

Few things I still want to find out:

- What it my upper intake.
Here, I must be honest that I am essentially focusing on my mood and how I feel. Also, trying to know if it really influences or not on my throat and chest discomfort.
But... Regarding my skin, what can be the side effects? Perhaps, my skin can also helps me finding what's the best intake when it starts reacting too much.
Start taking some salt, will ruin all the pores that were closing on my face, won't it? :/

The max intake I had was yesterday - 3/4 teaspoon. Today I feel pretty well, I must say. Still, I don't know if this will remain and if I will increase or not the dose.

Cold Hands + Low Body Temperature + Low Heartbeat

Post by Novidez »

I have already talked a lot about having cold hands and blue/purple nails all the day. Thought being on Regular Wai would improve it, but it seems not.
Yesterday, just for curiosity, I measured my body temperature before going to bed: I was at 34.8ºC - 35.2ºC
My pulse was also low: 52 BPM
Even now, and having already eaten, I am at 35.5ºC and 57 BPM. Ok, not so low, but my hands are freezing.

I have read this:
http://www.cheeseslave.com/10-simple-tricks-to-raise-your-metabolism/ wrote: 3. Eat More and Drink Less

Eating more was the single best thing I did to raise my metabolism (second was eating more carbs, and third was getting enough sleep). I’m the type to go all day without eating because I’m too busy working and I don’t have time to sit down and eat a meal.
(...)
“When you are cold, especially in the hands and feet, your urine is clear, the urge to urinate is strong, or you are peeing frequently… YOU NEED TO EAT MORE AND DRINK LESS. When you are hot, especially in the hands and feet, your urine is dark or you haven’t peed in a really long time… YOU NEED TO EAT LESS AND DRINK MORE.”

4. Eat Enough Salt

Most people are terrified of salt these days. That’s because everywhere you look, people are warning you not to eat salt. But humans need salt and limiting salt lowers the metabolism.
Ok, it may not have scientific evidence, but I have to admit that I identify myself with this somehow.

There's this also
https://www.reddit.com/r/raypeat/comments/43vudb/rp_noob_here_im_wondering_how_many_of_you_are_on/ wrote:If your hands and feet are cold, you have high cortisol, or low thyroid. Try drinking a couple cups of orange juice every couple of hours. If they remain cold, you have a thyroid or gut problem.
I know that some of the purposes to add salt it to compensate a diet essentially liquid.
When I added Salt, I noticed that I peed less and I immediately felt warmer. However, the water retention is not that welcomed.

What can I do?

- Continuing with the salt? Does it make sense? Does the body really adapts to it regarding water retention?
- Is it possible to be on Wai with lower water intake? Like eating whole fruits instead of juices can help or eating more dried fruits? Will this solve anything?

I would really, really appreciate some help. Seriously.
My life has completely stagnated. I am even start lying to my parents saying that university is going ok, but it clearly isn't... I have missed most of all my exams because I didn't study. Also, I am missing most of my classes... It has been counterproductive to me.
It's ironic, because I feel like I have better focus doing things. I can say that my mind is indeed sharper. However, now the problem is within my body: constantly feeling uncomfortable, restless, cold and with this I'm constantly afraid, lost, worried and can't really focus on another things unless it is related on finding a solution for this. Wherever I am, that's how I feel most of the time.

I am willing to do everything to solve this.
And, sadly, the last option is to do a break on Wai.

Eczema

Post by Novidez »

The other day I went to a dermatologist because two browns things appeared on my skin. A have them for about 3 weeks, I think. She said that are eczemas. I have two of them: one on my belly and one on my lower back. I must say that I completely ignored them.

Now, reading this - http://draxe.com/7-signs-symptoms-you-have-leaky-gut/ - I don't know what to say. It appears Eczema is a symptom of a Leaky Gut.

I'm not quite comfortable knowing this. Maybe all this I'm feeling could be explained because I having a leaky gut.
