Sleep Debt | Hours of Sleep per Night

Post by Aytundra »

Taking a poll:
1) How many hours of sleep per night do you get (average)?
2) How many hours of sleep makes you feel at your best?
3) How many hours of sleep makes you feel at your worst?
4) How do you go about paying off your sleep debt?

Everyone post!

I want to see yourrr number of zZZzZzzzZzZzZZZZZZZzzZs!

1) 8 hrs (7-9)
2) 8 hrs (7-9, without alarm)
3) < 7 hrs, waking up with alarm
4) sleep 9 hrs or take a nap

In the beginning the effect isn't that big, I just feel a bit sleepy during the day. The longer I suffer from sleep deprivation, the more I get sniffly next to feeling sleepy.

1) 8.5 hours
2) 8.5 hours
3) sleeping less than 8 hours for 2 or more consecutive days
4) sleeping 9 hours or more

I have not used an alarm for over 7 years.
I feel that an alarm waking me up is the epitome of stress; i could not accept it any longer.
Also, i wanted to prevent waking up my (then future) children.
Without the use of an alarm, I never overslept, im always in time.
If i need to wake up in the middle of the night (say 2 or 3 AM) to change a diaper,
i simply tell myself to do so, and i will. Im off 15 minutes maximally.
I can also decide to just sleep for half an hour, or one hour, and it works like a charm.

Basketball Athletes & Sleep

Fans of basketball?
Betting on an athlete?
Better find data on how many hours they slept!
And the conditions of the environment and routines before they slept.

1) 7-8 hours
2) 8
3) the lower than 8 the worse
4) I just try to go to sleep earlier. My debt doesn't come from not sleeping on purpose, I never use an alarm either. Usually it's from going to bed later, but still waking up the same usual time I'm used to (e.g. 6:00), even though I didn't put any alarm.

1) 6-7, more on the 6-side usually.
2) 8
3) Less than 5 is pretty bad, but I can function alright if it just one night.
4) I wish I did, but I really dont. I try to not go deeper in ;)

Sleep as a very important aspect of a healthy lifestyle, and it is the aspect I am neglecting the most. My own business, two small kids and a very busy life is my only excuse. However, I usually nap for 20-30 minutes most nights a few hours before going to bed, as I almost always fall asleep when putting my oldest daughter to bed :)
