How many of these symptoms do you experience?

90, but varies with salicylate intake in type and severity. I have also had many anaphylactoid incidents (verified by sleep study). The neurological symptoms are the worst aspect though.

Why is "I do so like green eggs and ham. Thank you, thank you. Sam I am." your footer signature? Is this profound in your mind?

I have to ask because normally I can see the reasons people do things even if I don't agree with them, but this escapes my wildest imagination.

@RRM. The classic core symptoms of phenol/salicylate reactions are:

*Emotional extremes, such as euphoria or “Slap Happy”, followed by depression
*Dark circles under the eyes
*Red face/ears
*Diarrhea
*Headache
*Trouble falling asleep at night, night waking, and insomnia
*Fatigue and lethargy
*Irritability
*Night Sweats
*Aggression (much more common with children as well as phenols made with petroleum)
*Self-injury (head banging, hitting, or other self-injury)
*Hyperactivity is more common in children’s reactions where as adults generally experience
symptoms similar to chronic fatigue.

The other list is obviously more comprehensive, but I get experience the above symptoms in spades (except for self-injury, though I'll sometime strike out physically at inanimate objects when I "lose it"). The night sweats suck and my pillow generally smells horrible in the morning as the skin becomes the default detox outlet. I know when I've overdone it on phenols/sals as I'll get a sudden, high-pitched ringing in my ear and my eyes will burn and feel gritty/puffy, then it's just a matter of time till the next reaction ensues.

There's a possible unexpected benefit of a warrior-style (Wai or not) diet, I think: improved tolerance for cold weather.

Re: Wai Warrior - for autophagy - AN EXPERIMENT

Post by RRM »

Maybe you heard about Wim Hof, "the iceman"?
It seems that his tolerance for low temps (constant body temp when exposed to extreme cold) comes from a big increase in brown fat and a 300% increase in metabolic activity.
Im guessing that the latter includes autophagy (which he calls "positiveren"; the cleaning up of redundant / damaged cell particles)..

Haven't. Am familiar with brown fat, but also familiar with human amylase gene evolution. Enjoying success with large potato/carrot mash (no skin...saponins) meals in the evening. Say... 3Lbs baked potato (ohhh fire), 1.5Lbs carrots, 1/4 cup fat (OO?). Realized the other day that I was eating baby food for dinner :D . No problems ingesting such a large volume of low-insoluble-fibre carbs. Not sure of the optimum fat ratio or source (can't project into the past reality of hunter-gatherers to the point where fat-source is definitive in my mind). Too early to predict long-term results, but short-term success has been encouraging. Let's call it paleo-vegan for now...
