Women and intermittent fasting

Post by Emeira »

Is it true, that fasting may not be good for women: that it’s more suited for male physiology?

I think in the past women didn’t wander away for too long to find food, they probably had more steady access to nutrients. It probably has a LOT to do with reproductive health too – someone who’s pregnant or breastfeeding itsn’t going to be out hunting with the guys… Men probably adapted over time (and women) to the environment they were by. Women probably had more access to the nuts, berries, plants, roots, marrow, broths, etc., and men probably had more less access and were forced to fast/gorge when the opportunity presented itself.

This probably varied by community and practices and climate.

That article ignores the effects of autophagy.
Autophagy is what makes sense about fasting.
Nothing else makes sense about fasting.
Fasting evokes autophagy, which has been proven to increase lifspan and protect against various diseases, including diabetes and cancer.
Regardless of sexe.
However, fasting may influence women's hormonal cycle, which may be considered a health issue.
Nevertheless, also women will live longer due to fasting-induced autophagy.
And you may adapt the extend of fasting to your hormonal tolerance for fasting. By trying.

This is what I am afraid of, it could negatively affect menstrual cycle

16h of fasting evokes autophagy? For example:
7:00 - getting up
12:30 - 6 yolks + 100ml orange juice + 30g banana + 30 avocado
... sipping juice with added coconut cream at work (~0.5l)
18:00 weight lifting workout (and i walk every day about 7km)
19:30 biggest meal - orange juice, honey, yolks and fish.
20:30 stop eating till next day 12:30
