Dancing is quite intense.
Depending on what dance and on what level, it can be extremely intense...
But even then, it doesnt have to interfere. It just creates a lot of hunger,
and if you can cope with that properly, you will have no problem at all.

You just need to make sure to ingest enough readily available energy,
right before, during and after. Just enough to keep you feeling energetic.
Its a lot of energy that you need, so that it requires paying more attention,
so that you may still keep in touch with your energy needs.

Why is this so important?
Otherwise you will convert muscles in available energy,
and then afterwards you will tend to want to eat all kind of 'bad' foods
because your body doesnt like to be 'in debt' (energy wise), and prefers
to counteract such a condition (by overeating).

Its tricky, but once you get the hang of it,
its not so difficult.

Is it better to eat the protein directly after? or is it better to have it at night before bed, since you can't use it for reconstructive purposes until than?

And would you want to have more fat before dancing? (Or any strenuous physical activity I'd assume would be similar).

Strenuous activities require relatively more carbs than fat, so you wouldn't necessarily need more fat beforehand.

I dance in the kitchen every evening while I cook dinner. It's fun, it makes me happy and it burns extra calories. It's the quickest way to snap myself into a good mood. And if you eat while you're in a good mood, your body digests food at the optimum level. Anger and frustration have been shown to derail the digestive process.
A healthy diet is skin insurance.

Ah, but than I have to build up my glycogen, which is time consuming. I was hoping I could just eat 2 avocados and it would stop me from going into an energy deficit.

If you want to better utilize your energy while exercising, you can try only breathing through your nose, never through your mouth, and sipping on sugar-added orange juice.

Yes, because avocado is mostly fat, which doesnt replenish your blood glucose level.
