As i previously said; peeling nectarines does not make much difference.
Dried fruits in general? yes.

Why is there a difference when peeling dried fruits?

Why is there a difference when peeling dried fruits?
The skin of fruits such as dates and figs is not that soft,
so that the bad stuff will have got stuck to the skin.
