Found: Olives without salt

Post by Maia »

Hi everyone! :)

I have found olives that are not cured with salt. The only ingredients are water-cured kalamata olives, and olive oil.
http://www.olivesetal.co.uk/view/produc ... detail/13/

They also have other olives with different kinds of spices, like for example: garlic and rosemary. But all of them are without salt.

They ship worldwide, but if you live outside the UK you should contact them about the shipping.

Olives cured in olive oil are ok regarding acne, right?

Cheers

Cool! It does seem as if only the Straight Kalamata Olives (the ones you linked) are water cured, or did I miss something?

At least they are the only ones that it specifically says that 'these are water-cured'. On the other ones it doesn't say that, but at least salt is not listed in the ingredients list...

I don't think salt is ever mentioned on an olive ingredients list (as salt-curing is done before the olives are packed), but I could be mistaken.

Oh really? I didn't know...
Well, good thing they have at least one kind that isn't like that :)

First comment on the olives (http://www.olivesetal.co.uk/view/produc ... detail/13/)

Don't get me wrong. The olives are great.

BUT, they were salty!!!

Called olives et al, and was informed that they get olives in Brine, which are then washed and topped up with olive oil. So you get a less salty olive - but not a water cured olive.

Would love to try a REAL water cured olive if you can get them.

Oh, I did not see this reply until now! Sorry :/

Yes, I have ordered and eaten these olives on numerous occasions. They are super nice, in my opinion :)

I buy green olives with pit and if they are salty, I just rinse m with water and lay them in water for 2 hours and there is no salty taste whatsoever, must try.

There is no way that the water will extract all the salt, as there is still (salty) water inside the olives.
What may not taste salty to you, may be too salty for others (susceptible to acne).
