Swollen face in the morning

Post by Kasper »

Anybody knows what to do about it ?

I don't have many problems with acne. But I've problem with water retention in the skin, especially in the morning.

I've been this week for 90 % on the wai diet. But does anybody know other cause of water retention in the face?

Maybe I'm not really sure about the theory of this all.

Is water retention + high sebum = acne?
Or can it have other causes then water retention ?

And what about water retention in the morning? Can that cause acne ?

Yes, its this diet.
Particularly on high-protein or high salt diet, your face will be very swollen in the morning.
Just go 100% raw for a few weeks, and you will clearly see the difference.

Drinking alcohol.
Lots of different drugs medications.
Hormones.
Not sleeping so well / too short.
Various diseases.

On a related note, I am having an edema in my ring finger and pinkie. Something like this:

The medical term for it is chronic paronychia.

From this website(http://emedicine.medscape.com/article/1106062-overview)
* Chronic paronychia is primarily caused by the yeast fungus Candida albicans.
Candida albicans? What? Does that mean I have Candida?

Yes, its possible.
Its also possible that its just the result of a blow or something similar.
(which you might not have noticed; it happens)
How long do you have it?

It could also be a localized inflammation of a small wound.

Then it may still be the result of a wound / blow.
Lets see where it goes from here in a few weeks time.
If its getting worse, you got to see a Dr.

What can happen is that the inflammation is 'locked' in. When something is inflamed the body fights bacteria with white blood cells. Like in a war this results in dead cells, bacteria, debris, etc. This takes the form of a fluid and/or pus. If the entry wound is small and closes off the area with the pus, it is trapped. In this case the wound has to be reopened to let the pus out (in the medical world there's the expression "ubi pus, ubi evacuae", which means "where there's pus, it has to be evacuated"), which could be slightly painful.

Is the swelling painful when you put pressure on it?
