Using a Blender and protein damage

Post by avalon »

Hey everyone I have a question.

I know that blending an egg yolk in a blender is bad because of damaging the protien at a molecular level...

Is this refering to the heat created, resulting in dirty protien? Or a mechanical damage to the protien?

I've been googling for information on how heat generated by using a blender could damage the quality of the food(beyond just yolks)...but I have found none. Does anyone have any links, other than Wais?

Thanx

Good question, and I'm not sure about the answer. Could be either or both. :?

No links, no proof.
That part is speculation and the result of a few acne sufferers; all the ones that are most susceptible to acne dont tolerate prolonged consumption of blended foods, as it makes them break out. The only way we could fit that into the overall acne theory, was this way.

The first. Mechanical damage is fine, as no unnatural new compounds are created.

Vonderplanitz also says you mustn't blend eggs or even whisk them with a fork. I can't remember why.

Ah yes of course, the heat is needed for the chemical reaction.

I've been eating smoothies for the past few days (because of Chin Chin and her evil smoothie thread) and now I have acne on my forehead as usual. :(
I never get acne unless I eat blended banana (and who wants to eat a smoothie without banana? beautiful beautiful banana.)
but it is worse when blended with eggs.

It's not visible, but it's very feelable to fingers.

If it's not particularly damaging for you health, only for your skin, I think I'm going to Carry On Blending.

I wouldn't blend the yolks, but add them afterwards.
