I noticed that the login page doesn't use an https page. This means when people login to this site there password is being sent across the internet in clear text. Does this concern you?

That's their concern then, don't you think? As far as I know most forums don't have a secure login anyway.

Ultimately, it is their concern, yes. The reason I'm asking is because I'm building a site where people can post opinions then others can come and agree or disagree (and give reasons why). I am researching what is the norm.

I think secure pages are only used when you have to enter 'sensitive' information, like credit card info, living address, phone number, etc. Web shops and internet banking come to mind. On those sites the login page will also be encrypted.
