Advice about Brain Cancer

Post by allan101 »

Hi Friends,
The words Brain cancer are enough to strike fear into the heart of anyone. Aside from the physical effects, cancer causes people to react in different ways. Some people want to learn as much a possible about their condition, whilst others prefer to remain ignorant. If you are one of those who want to learn about brain cancer then read on. Currently their are types of tumors than can cause this condition. The first is known as a "primary brown tumors", and the second, are "secondary metastatic brain tumors". These Metastatic tumors have secondary in their title because they are caused by cancerous cells that originally developed in other areas of the body and migrated to the brain. If you have been told you or a loved one has a brain tumor then you need to be aware It is possible to have a brain tumor without actually having cancer. You see the first tumor I mentioned, (primary brown tumors) are not always cancerous. The cells of your tumor may multiply but then just stop, or they continue to multiply. However, even the non-cancerous tumors can still cause long-term health problems. Because of where the tumor is, they can prevent your brain from functioning efficiently. Possible health issues can include strokes, and loss of hearing or vision. Unlike many other tumors, primary brain tumors don't normally attack your central nervous system, and on the rare occasion they do, this is not often a cause of death. When sufferers die from having primary brown tumors it is usually due to the actual size of the tumor, inside the skull. Unfortunately, any cancerous brain tumor is life threatening. A tumor on the brain will affect its functioning and depending on it's location and size can affect health and personality. This can include memory, perception, and even the ability to reason and rationalise.

Yes, THC (a cannabinoid) inhibits cancer cell growth, as many other agents do,
including a lot of antinutrients.
But thats about the treatment of cancer.

Ionizing radiation from can damage DNA and cause cancer. The more you are exposed to the higher the probability of damage and this is cumulative.

here are some sources:

Since the title of the post is "Advice about Brain Cancer", there should've been some advice in the OP. There isn't.

So far it seems cancer is a normal bodily system gone haywire. Possible causes:

1. genetic
2. mutagenic/carcinogenic influences

ad 1. Genetics is a popular subject. It would be very advantageous to be able to conclude that genes are responsible for cancer (and other diseases). So far that hasn't happened, and conclusions from scientific research are vague. My opinion is that genes are a blueprint for our bodies, defining characteristics, strengths and weaknesses. It's not a detailed program being played out during our lives. This means genetic defects will be apparent since birth, if they are severe enough, and otherwise genes are only responsible for certain susceptibilities towards diseases/disorders.

ad 2. A far less popular subject. "It's not your fault, it's in your genes" is far easier to accept and deal with. As readers of this site know, we already expose ourselves to quite an amount of these substances by following an unhealthy diet. These substances are more clearly linked to cancer than genetics.

Of course there is also the possibility of a combination, along the lines of Pottenger's research, which means health degeneration can increase over generations.

My advice would be: do whatever is possible and prevent cancer from happening in the first place.

THC is a cell growth inhibitor, but that doesnt make it an effective treatment.

I've researched this a bit, because I was interested in why long-term marijuana smokers don't have an increased rate of lung cancer. I found no evidence that marijuana can prevent cancer.

Maybe only in the sense that it may cut stress in a high-stress individual (although admittedly that's like saying massage/bath/soft music prevents cancer..)

Yes, the inhibiting effects are limited,
but maybe just enough to compensate for some of the cancerous effects of smoking.
So, no prevention, but inhibitory at best.

Well look at this:
http://www.nowpublic.com/thc_marijuana_ ... vard_study
From that article:
"the active ingredient in marijuana, THC, cuts tumor growth in common lung cancer in half and significantly reduces the ability of the cancer to spread!"

This means that THC inhibits tumor growth.
Not totally, but to some extend, which means that the inhibiting effects are limited.
The article does not state that marijuana prevents cancer...
