Blender cocktails

Post by Chin-Chin »

This is a thread for all good blender combos.

My favorite is:

2 tomatos
1 cucumber
Lots of olive oil

Spin and it's ready. Add mint if it's not against your religion.

You can even serve it to non-Wai friends. They'll love it!

*Make sure you empty the blender and flush it immediately with hot water, then cleaning is breeze.*

Mango Mamba

1 ripe Mango
*without the skin and the seed, this should be self-explanatory from here forward. I forgot to mention that I peel the skin of the tomatos and cumcumber as well.*

2 oranges pressed: the less pulp, the better.
*Otherwise, you have to constantly take chuncky orange bits out of your teeth while you have your drink - we agree that it's not very sexy. I don't have a juicer, so any contribution on advanced artisanal juicing techniques is welcome*

Spin and serve! Don't forget to flush your blender with hot water!

I was also voted best raw host of the year with this!

Mango Mamba

Sorry, I just realised that there are missing ingredients to the recipe. Please forgive my ADD.

-Add to the above a big spoon of raw honey (I prefer the rock solid kind for blenders)

-And of course, lots of olive oil
*This should be self-explanatory as well from here onwards*

I have many more to come. But better taste life one bite at a time

Kiwi is not suitable for blenders

Post by Chin-Chin »

I found in one of Wai's old post that Kiwi is not a suitable ingredient for blenders because the tiny seeds are actually toxique once broken down. Too bad because it's definitely a delicious item because I tried it once.

The idea of cocktail is that you can be creative with limited ingredients. I hope I got everybody's creative juices running!

OK, I was hoping more people would post killer blender recipes here. If we can compile 200, we can edit a Wai's blender recipe book!

There's a Chinese proverb that says: "When you get out the brick, the jade will soon follow". I know my stuff was really basic. I was the brick, where is the jade?

Okay... some (hopeful) jade for you:

CG's Pineapple Dream

In a blender, combine:
1/2 ripe pineapple
1/2 punnet blueberries
1/2 tsp ground ginger
1 banana
2 tbsp coconut oil (or mild-tasting olive oil)

Blend till smooth and then find a sunny spot to sit and have a pineapple day-dream...

I thought blended stuff wasn't allowed.
Have I given up my smoothies for nothing.
I mean I know they're considered "bad" but are they actually ALLOWED?! Legalised sin?

My favourite was;-
banana, avocado, and berries. especially strawberry or blueberry.

But I can not remember the quantities as it's so long since I MADE it. :x :!:

Blending of fruits is allowed, except for kiwis, and no bananas if you're acne-prone. If I remember well...

Because the blades of the blender could break the tiny seeds, and release the toxins inside. I'm not sure how big a deal that is though.

Curly Girl,

This IS our communal space for daydream and child play! I love the ginger idea. Do you take off the skin? How? (Cairidh, ginger IS a munch item)

Cairidh,

Your post has convinced me that avocado is totally blendable.

Also, how do you guys peel the skins off the berries? One by one?

Chin-Chin :-)
I peel the skin off the ginger with a paring knife (if the ginger is fresh)... otherwise, I am afraid I cheat and use dried powdered ginger in a bottle (non-irradiated of course). I know it's a munch-food, but it doesn't make me break out. Others might need to 'test' it though.

Hehehe, nope, we don't peel the berries one by one (at least, I don't). I just buy organic berries! (Which makes them a luxury... but I don't eat that many berries anyway, for reasons I've described elsewhere on the forum.)

Avocado Diva:

-Add to the 2 tomatos, 1 cucumber, olive oil combination 1 or 2 avocados
-Spin and serve

In the beginning, I thought that it was less "pure" than the tomato/cumcumber combination, but after 2 hours, I changed my mind. So I'm still undecided on this. Which is better?

My favorite blend right now is:

1 mango
1 avocado
spoonful of agave nectar or honey
water, ice

I'm eating it right now (mmmmmmm).

Dadasarah,

Your recipe was awesome. What makes you think of adding water? In this diet, we never talk about water...
