Paleo Diet vs. Wai Diet

I just posted the following on the board over at acne.org, and I thought I'd post it here too to get more input, even if the input here is probably going to be much more one-sided  I was on the [benzoyl peroxide] Regimen until about a year ago. Then I discovered Loren Cordain's Dietary Cure fo...

One more thing: Assuming raw, unadulterated crab tastes good (or maybe I just need to find this out for myself) and is safe to eat (I'd like to verify this beforehand), how should I go about killing the crab so as to minimize suffering to the crab as well as to myself? With a cooked crab, the first ...

Raw crab?

Is it okay to eat dungeoness crab raw? I've always loved dungeoness crab, and I can buy live, locally caught dungeoness (or catch it myself) in my area. The only things I could find on the internet are: 1. You can get dangerous parasites from eating freshwater crab (e.g., river crab), but I've read ...

I'm curious about the fresh herring, as here it's always salted and frozen. I suspect it'll taste like mackerel. According to http://www.13.waisays.com/fish.htm : Cod and herring very regularly contain much parasites, and should not be consumed raw. In most countries herring has to be deep frozen f...

thanks, rrm, for your comprehensive reply. there's one thing, though, that perhaps i didn't communicate clearly: i am concerned about the polyunsaturated fats in sesame oil and walnut oil (not in shea butter, which is low in polyunsaturated fats) becoming oxidized in the sun. i should add that i jus...

thanks, claireelis, for the helpful thoughts. i have a hunch as to what might be at least part of the problem: the spikes and dips tend to be worst in the morning. when i wake up, i'm usually quite hungry, but i sometimes get sucked in by the computer and don't have anything to eat or drink for an h...

I just found the following at http://www.freeacnebook.com/constipation.htm I like to eat something sweet before I go to bed. Is that a problem? Not at all; eating a piece of fruit or something else sweet just before you go to bed can even help promote sleep. This only contains sufficient energy to l...

Exotic Sashimi Alternatives to Tuna

I don't have a question. Just felt like sharing :D I'm officially on Day 1 of the diet. I unofficially started about 4 or 5 days ago, but I ate lots of pickled ginger with my tuna sashimi during those first few days to make it more palatable, only to discover that (A) my acne wasn't going away, and ...

That works out to about 8 tablespoons of OO per liter of OJ, according to my calculations. That's double the amount I've seen recommended elsewhere. Is that too much, or is it just right?

changes in sleep cycle

I'm on day 3 of the Wai diet and am noticing some dramatic changes in my sleep cycle, both good and bad. I used to go to bed between around 12am and 2am and get up between around 10am and 12pm. Now that I'm on the diet, I am falling asleep around 9pm or 10pm and getting up around 7am or 8am. This fe...

PS Just to be clear: Is it necessary to shake the juice before each time I take a sip? It's hard to tell, but it looks like much if not all of the oil separates to the top pretty quickly.

okay to shake orange juice to mix oil?

I read that centrifugal juicers are not good because they mix air with the juice, thereby speeding oxidation, so I'm wondering: Is it okay to shake the juice to mix it with the olive oil? Is it necessary to shake the juice to mix it with the oil? Thanks.

Blood sugar spikes and dips

I'm on day 2 of the wai diet and everything is going well, except for the fact that I can feel my blood sugar rising (agitation) and falling (light-headedness). I'm drinking lots of orange juice with 4 tablespoons of olive oil per liter, and I'm trying to drink only a cup at a time and space it out ...
