Thank you, lovely peeps, for the compliments on my pic :-D :-D Yip Cairidh, the diet sure does work for acne. You should have seen my face before! (But I could never bring myself to post a 'before' pic on the internet... In fact, I don't even think there ARE any 'before' pictures; I stayed away from...

Yip, Cairidh, coconut oil does raise your temperature, which is why it is often used as a nutritional 'treatment' for people with hypothyroidism. The oil contains medium-chain fatty acids and lauric acid, both of which apparently have a thermogenic effect. "Following rapid breakdown and absorption i...

In general yes, I believe the oil can't be labelled 'extra virgin' unless it has been mechanically extracted (i.e. cold-pressed). But it is always wise to check the actual bottle, because the means of extraction will usually be printed somewhere on the label. Also, price is a good guide - the more e...

Err.... Agent, you mean you juiced the entire orange, with the dark orange rind on? Or do you mean you took off the rind but left on the thick white pith? I would say, juicing the entire orange is not a good idea! We aren't meant to eat the skins... and I can't imagine the juice would go down partic...

I've heard of Jinjee and Storm Talifero before, and I have to say, their children look absolutely marvellous. I wonder whether they are truly 100% raw AND vegan or whether there aren't any occasional lapses into cooked food or (raw/cooked) animal foods to obtain B12 and various other good things. On...

Cairidh - I am not so sure a water fast (with supplementary green juices) would be all that helpful... it seems like pure torture, when I think there are gentler ways of quitting that don't involve a process that frees up toxins from one's body fat and can make the wannabe-ex-smoker feel very ill in...

Chin-Chin, I remember reading about a guy who went to Suzuki Roshi (prominent Zen master) to ask for advice about giving up smoking. Suzuki told him to make a ceremony out of every cigarette - wrap it first in a golden cloth, bow to it, appreciate it, then smoke it with full awareness (no distractio...
