Re: Diets of Animals in Nature

I think carnivores in general have a somewhat shorter life-span due to too much protein in their diet.
In any case I don't think you can extrapolate any meaningful conclusions here :) I doubt you could extend the life-span of the tasmanian rat if you now force feed them starch.

He thinks that sperm is a great source of zinc, but this is not true at all, it does contain zinc, but not in any significant amount. I don't know how could anyone take him seriously on anything after this type of stuff. Shouldn't homosexuals run around like crazy after beef then, as an actually go...

Re: AGEs / ALEs

Fructose consumption from veggies and fruits is associated with better health regarding all cause mortaility, cancer of various organs, asthma etc. I think we should remove veggies from the equation (as they are not wai), and establish that it is fruits that are associated with these parameters. Al...

Kasper I wouldn't waste a minute on reading that dr. Wilson's 'wisdom'.
It sounds like he's mixed and mashed everything that he's ever come across, from the plain quackery and occasional science to religions and mythical stuff, that in the end it's nothing but a bunch of nonsense.

Re: AGEs / ALEs

Potatoes may be very high in reducing sugars Wójcik-Stopczyńska B , which are precursors for various AGEs. What that study says is that potatoes bought in Szczecin, Poland in spring had more reducing sugars than autumn potatoes. Probably because they were stored at a cold temperature all winter. Po...

Re: AGEs / ALEs

You can't make that conclusion because we can't quantify "High in AGE inhibitors". Maybe fruits are 1000x higher in AGE inhibitors, which would completely compensate for the High in fructose.

There are dedicated orange presses (e.g. I have this).
I'm dreaming of something like this though :D

I find this recent study very interesting: http://ajph.aphapublications.org/doi/abs/10.2105/AJPH.2014.302151?journalCode=ajph Results. After adjustment for sociodemographic and health-related characteristics, sugar-sweetened soda consumption was associated with shorter telomeres (b = –0.010; 95% con...

Re: panacea's diet log

Have you tried baking soda to buffer acidic orange juice? That's what I'm doing. http://www.waiworld.com/waitalk/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=1893&p=29535#p29535 It doesn't take much baking soda actually, around 1-1.5 teaspoon for 3l orange juice. After dissolving I leave the orange juice for some ti...

Re: panacea's diet log

The grilled chicken sounds statistically insignificant :) panacea, you need to stick with the diet for a few weeks for your bowel movements to normalize. That's how long it takes me whenever I sidetrack from the wai diet and spoil my digestion (happens when I travel). In the meantime there's always ...

Yep. Dried means relatively lots of fiber content.
Relative to volume (not calories), so this relativity doesn't translate into some meaningful difference in the amount of fiber you'd eat whether it's dried or not.

Re: Barefoot running & Alexander Technique

Sounds plausible too. Poor dinosaurs though!
It was really hard to do endurance running while carrying several kg heavy eggs, especially barefoot. So it definitely makes sense that they started making some shoes, with advanced cushioning, motion control and all that ;)

Re: Barefoot running & Alexander Technique

I have minimal running shoes, pretty thin, flat sole (no drop from the heel to the toes) and very light. http://cdn.sneakerreport.com/assets/MerrellFlux1.jpg Calves and feet still hurt if I run too long with them, I guess I have to progress slower. What do you guys think of this theory btw? http://e...

Re: panacea's diet log

I tried a treadmill, even if you could hook one up outside and fit a laptop on a table, you can't type or move the mouse well if you're walking as it's relentless. What we really need is an almost frictionless human-sized hamster wheel (there is one already made but I understand it has a lot of fri...
