Yep, swordfish has a pronounced flavor and a firm texture - which not everyone likes - but it is perfect for those who feel raw fish is too soft and bland. Fresh mackerel is enjoyable - personally one of my favorites. But after a few days, it begins to go 'off' and acquires a strong taste and odor. ...

I just ordered 10 lbs of fresh Black Manzanilla olives from GreatOlives.com. They are considered 'field run' and will be of assorted sizes. Nov. 11 (today) is the last day of their 2007 season. According to my research, ripe (black) olives can be cured in the following ways: -Dry salt-curing -Brine ...

Salty raw fish? (from sushi bar)

Anyone ever experience slightly salty tuna or salmon sashimi when eating at a sushi place? I got some salmon and tuna to-go the other night, and I noticed right away that it tasted salty, especially the salmon. I was able to compare it with some fresh amberjack, the salmon and tuna were definitely s...

Update everyone, I recently visited a local Italian market/specialty shop that I've heard good things about. Wow. If I had never heard about Wai, I'd probably shop there at least once everyday. Unbelievable amounts of interesting and freshly made foods, so many specialty foods, it really would have ...

Negitoro

Here is a simple, yet delicious combination that is sometimes served in traditional Japanese sushi restaurants, either alone, on rice, in maki (roll) or temaki (cone-shaped handroll). http://www.nagasaki-kikusui.co.jp/img/takuhai_p_don_negitoro.jpg 100g Otoro 1 stalk of Negi green onion Chop otoro f...

It's not uncommon for one to underestimate how much one actually eat.

I suggest keeping better track of exactly what you eat and exactly how much of it.

If you try to crack the brazil nuts while they are still frozen, it is much easier. The shell will shatter, but the nut inside will remain solid and in one piece.

Good question, though I am not sure. Probably will get the common answer: Negligible effect if you are not susceptible to acne.

This combination is great! The lime really makes the papaya taste much different, in a good way. Good for variety, or if one does not like papaya normally.

Ate cooked eggs

So I basically made an omelet for someone, and ended up trying some as well (3 good mouthfuls, about 1-1.5 eggs worth). It was actually really tasty. Just wisked eggs, a pinch of salt, a sprinkle of pepper, and some chives on top for garnish. Oh, I actually used butter too, damn, forgot about that. ...
