Where to store fruits?
Is it preferable to keep them outside in the sun for after ripening?

Hi Ducky,
It all depends on your climate/weather at the moment.
I will give you an example. Over here, it is VERY hot and sunny at the moment, so it is not a good idea to store fruits outside if they are ALREADY ripe.
Apples can be kept in a cool cupboard away from heat and direct sunlight.
Oranges can be kept in a fridge set to between 5 to 10 degrees Celsius, same goes for ripe mangos.
Pineapples, bananas, melons, avocados and most other fruits can be stored somewhere cool and dark, like in a cupboard, away from heat and direct sunlight.
I could be wrong, but so far this seems to work for me

Hey Brazilnuts!
Thanks for the detailed advice!
I thought it was about a fruit being climacteric or not-climacteric, without getting any scientific, aka after-ripening or non-after-ripening.
Climacteric
Pear peaches, nectarines, plums, apricots, cantaloupe, honeydew
Apple Kiwi Mango Banana Avocado Plum Guava
Non- Climacteric
Pineapple Carambola Lime Grapefruit Orange Lychee Strawberry Grape Cherry
I found this on the internet.
See if i leave a mango not too ripe outside in the sun ( its hot here too ) it becomes ripe and has a good taste.
But when i put out some kiwis still hard they turned bad, though they are
climacteric too.
So i guess i just have to test every kind of fruits.
Strange that oranges are put in the non-climacteric category, i thought
they continue ripening after having been picked.
