Storage of fruits

Post by Marrrianne »

How do ya'll store all the fruit?

I just bought a huge box of bananas. And I'm gonna freeze a lot of it but I was just wondering if it's best if you put it into a closet or out in the sunlight but I guess sunlight isn't the best always. Can I just leave it in the box? Does it matter?

DO you store your dried fruid in the refrigerator? Oranges? Avocados?

thanx:) :!:

It depends on how (un)ripe the fruits are (and the amount of fruits you have). If they are unripe, just out in the kitchen. If ripe, and not to be eaten soon, then in the fridge. Putting them in the fridge delays the ripening process.
I don't eat a lot of dried fruit, but I'd just leave it out in the package.

Freeze?
as in "frozen" or do you mean "refrigerate"?
You can freeze juices, and de-freeze them later.
Freezing and defreezing whole fruits is messy and un-economical.

Leaving them in the box will accelerate the ripening process,
due to capturing the ethylene produced by the fruit.

No, fruits taste better if you keep them outside the fridge.
Refigerating fruits makes them taste kind of bland.
Storing perfectly ripe fruits in the fridge is not that bad, but particularly bananas and avocadoes should never be kept in the fridge.
