Lack of vit. B12, D, calcium + too much Vitamins C?

Post by happy_face »

As I am still working on this new diet and used the nutrient table for the first time, I have some basic questions. Here is my daily intake:
1250g (grams) of Orange juice (Citrus sinensis), fresh, not pasteurized
175g (grams) of Pineapple (Ananus comosus), [1],
150g (grams) of Peach (Prunus persica), [1],
150g (grams) of Apples (Malus sylvestris), no skin, [1],
100g (grams) of Banana (Musa X paradisiaca), [1],
20g (grams) of Raisins (Vitis vinifera), [1],
110g (grams) of Avocados (Persea americana), California, [1],
15g (grams) of Brazil nuts (Bertholletia excelsa), not dried, [2][1],
10g (grams) of Honey, [1],
20g (grams) of Dates (Phoenix dactylifera), natural and dry, [1],
100g (grams) of Olive oil (Olea europea), [1],
50g (grams) of Salmon (Salmo salar), Atlantic wild, [1][2].

The table shows that I have enough energy. Howver it also shows:
(1) not enough calcium, Vitamins B12 and D
(2) too much Vitamin C
(3) not enough proteins: even if I have 50 g of shashimi and a few nuts

Am I interpreting this right? Do I need to change something?
Thanks.

ad 1) the RDA for calcium is far too high so no worries. B12 and D are low because your (animal) protein intake is low at the moment because of acne.
ad 2) that's ok
ad 3) like B12 and D

The body will adjust its absorption rate according to need.

How's the acne?

Hi Oscar. Thanks for the answers. My acne is slowly improving. My skin is so soft and feels so hydrated (probably the OO) that I can't stop touching my hands, arms at work :)

My skin is very pro-acne (and I am 37) so I might have to be on this diet for awhile. Is it a problem, in the long term, not to have enough proteins (I mean compared to the recommended daily intake)?

It shouldn't be a problem. After a while you could experiment with increasing the amount of protein, to see what you can handle, if you feel that you need more protein. Otherwise it should be fine.

Yes, thats the first effect of this diet. Its because the true skin no longer distracts water from the outer skin, so that the outer skin stays hydrated (and thus soft).

Yes. Its obviously not the puberty-hormone streak that is the cause in you. Probably your sdebum production is relatively high, maybe you have elevated testosterone levels and/or a very high uptake of damaged proteins, and whatever is the cause in you, its not likely to change any time soon.

'Not enough' is a problem. But the RDA is too high indeed. I have been maintaining muscle mass over 10 years now on this diet, on an intake of about 133 grams of fish daily (plus fruits etc, of course)
