Drugs, brand name and non-branded

Post by Mr. PC »

I just read from http://www.77canadapharmacy.com/Finasteride.php

"The only thing that makes a generic drug unique is the cost of the drug and the brand name. Every drug has a chemical name but the brand name is determined by the manufacture for sale purposes. Generic drugs and name brand drugs are the exact same. Generic drugs use the same ingredients and have the same medical effects when used at the same dosage. A name brand drug is the same as a generic drug because when it is produced is it required to be an exact duplicate of the original drug. This must include the same ingredients and will also produce the same medical effects when taken at the proper dosage. Some drugs aren’t available in the generic form. If generic Finasteride is on this page then you can buy it at its lower price instead of name brand Finasteride and save money too. There are certain drugs which don’t have the generic version available to order. If you can buy generic Finasteride then our online pharmacy will have it in stock. The generic Finasteride will be listed near the top of this page if it is available. Generic drugs offer you the best prices so you can save up to 50% on the cost if you choose the generic version instead of the name brand version."

Can anyone verify this? Is this unique to Canada or do most places function this way? Non brandname drugs are *exactly* the same as brand-name?

Yep and another fun fact - drugs are one of most inflated priced items on the planet, some I know of commonly sell for over a hundred times the price it cost to put it on the shelf. Some of the most popular drugs are like 20 cents in reality, and after all of that hype and price inflation, they're bad for you. Talk about a bad deal.

Yep, pay to get poisoned ;)

As RRM already mentioned, it's all about making money.
Nowadays every (bunch of) professional(s) is a company or corporation. The first priority of every company is to make money.
