Exactly, and fat is of influence regarding how much sugar you consume in one stetting as its satisfying, and of course it reduces the level of sugar you need to take in.

Ehrr, Thomas, what was the point of posting that article?

Is there evidence for this claim?
(that the carbohydrate intake is what keeps the cholesterol down)

...uh what? When you are adding sugar and oil to orange juice, what does what you said mean? Not even talking about sugars in fruits.

When the juice contains both sugar and oil, your body will notice, as fat is satisfying, hence your actual intake will decrease. This is according to your needs, as you need less juice to ingest enough energy, hence less sugar.

By posting that article I was not trying to refute any claims made by Wai/RRM.

I am not so much saying that the carbohydrate intake is what keeps cholesterol down as I am agreeing with what you say. That cholesterol levels can depend on ingesting too much sugar at given times.

Thats is not what the study shows.
What the study showed, is that a combination of 15% lard, 31% fructose, and 1% cholesterol, compared to a 'normal diet', led to a significant increase in total cholesterol and LDL.

Sugar = sucrose = fructose+glucose.
Fructose alone has a different influence on cholesterol metabolism.
Also, what is the role of the lard?
and what is the nature of the cholesterol? (oxysterols? good cholesterol?)
