Re: Salt
Sea salt
I don't know why wai would have a problem with sea salt as it's a naturally absorbed through the skin by everyone who wades in seawater.. a very common thing for ancestral humans, our bodies don't even have "fur" and have subcateneous fat because of our semiaquatic evolution, however it remains to be deduced whether we were beach-waders either partially or in whole, or freshwater waders, or both.
Sea salt
Or maybe unrefined sea salt is simply better for you than it is bad, and refined salt of any kind is terrible, as common sense would conclude. Unrefined sea salt in small quantities is as natural and healthy as co2, oxygen, and nitrogen in the right amounts for the majority of life on earth.

The sea is not clean anymore.
Sea salt
What are you referring to, contaminated with what?Unfortunately, it is contaminated.
The sea is not clean anymore.
Re: Salt
Aytundra's thought on salt.
If I had to choose between sodium chloride and sea salt.
I would choose sodium chloride. - economical aytundra (because it is cheaper.)
I would choose sodium chloride. - biological aytundra (because I think the sodium potassium pumps can use the sodium.)
I would choose sea salt. ----------- cooking aytundra (for the novelty in taste. and exotic name on a menu)
I would choose sea salt.------------ artistic aytundra (for the colour, décor use, to put in sand bottles.)
I would choose sodium chloride. - ecological aytundra (because the environment, in some instances the sea/ocean/bodies of water are polluted.)
1) No one can safely recommend sea salt, as the word "sea salt" is loaded, sea salt includes a number of different atoms, ions and molecular compound, and without properly identifying the components, no one can say that sea salt is safe.
2) Some one can safely recommend "one type of sea salt", if they tested that specific "batch of sea salt" and determined that 99.99% of its components, are generally regarded as safe for human consumption.
In essence I don't think something like a Wai forum can safely recommend sea salt. A Wai forum can only teach you how to think before you purchase.
(A wai forum can teach you how to read a fish, but it can never read the fish for you. Teach someone to catch a fish versus catching one for you. - Sorry, literary aytundra has too much to say, I will try to keep her busy in my diary, but she has to blurb this out.)
3) Some one can safely recommend "NaCl", because it is a chemical compound that has a definite proportion, mass, and volume, which can be tested in diets of different organisms, and arrive at a satisfactory conclusion that NaCl is safe for eating under a boundary of limits, such as consume not more than and not less than x amount of grams for a period of time between time a and time b.
4) If you want to safely recommend sea salt: you will have to first define the proportions of the chemicals within it. Then state if each component is process able in a human body.
Actually some salt is not absorb-able by the outer skin. It sits on the skin but cannot make it though past your skin to your to your blood vessels.
But if you ingest the salt, some types of salt are readily absorbed internally. MgCl Epsom salt
Would you wade in the water on the beach shores near a nuclear power plant? or would you wade in the beach nearby your home?
Would you pick up the sand from the beach near the ocean waves, or the sand near the parking lot of the same beach?
Would you sift the sand and take the salt near the ocean waves or near the parking lot of the same beach.
Would this be sea salt, ocean salt, lake salt, parking lot salt?
Feel the grains of sand in the water, feel the sand near the water, feel the sand near the parking lot. The textures are different. The components are different, the contaminants can very well be different.
Which sea salt would you apply topically to your skin?
Which sea salt would you eat?

From another thread: Iris mentioned a recent trend fishes dying, her link lists a number of incidents that happened over the last few years, across the different types of bodies of water, not limited to the sea, but in rivers, lakes and oceans as well.Aytundra wrote: Panacea, your question is like pandora's box. You are trying to open pandora's box. Don't go there it is a bit dangerous.
Go play in Iris' sandbox, you might figure it out.
- Literary Aytundra
Could the die off of fishes be because of contaminants in the water? Oil spills, fire retardants, radiation spill from powerplants, garbage patch in the oceans, ocean cruises dumping cooked foods, iron fertilization of oceans...Re: contamination of Wild Alaskan Sockeye Salmon

Sodium in French Food Composition Table
Sodium in French Food Composition Table:
1. Data from -The data is from: Ciqual French Food composition table version (2013)
https://pro.anses.fr/TableCIQUAL/index.htm
RDA averaged from two sources:
1) Nutrient Value of Some Common Foods, Department of Health and Welfare Canada. Revised 1975. Health and Welfare Canada. Table 15.6. Recommended daily nutrient intake. on pg 368 of book - Berry G.S. & Gopaul H.S. (1982). Biology of Ourselves. Canada. John Wiley & Sons Canada Limited. ISBN 0-471-79898-3.
2) Recommended Dietary Allowances (RDA) and Adequate Intakes (AI) for Minerals
http://themedicalbiochemistrypage.org/r ... nerals.pdf
Highlighted Sodium levels:
- Are of > 9% and >20% of 1500 mg daily RDA
- And an arbitrary Aytundra appointed higher limit of 2400 mg at >9% and 20%.
The other minerals found in food is shown to give you a contrast between how much sodium you are getting relative to other things.
Enjoy!
