University Video Lectures

Post by schmolch »

Hey Guys and Girls :-)

Maybe some remember me from the old Board.
I was really happy and surprised about this new Board when i got the Email.

Anyway, im not here to talk about how bad im doing with my diet (not that bad actually).
I found something that is remarkable in my Opinion and i want to tell anybody who might be interested.

Some U.S. Universites have started video-taping their Lectures and they can be watched (and downloaded) by anyone.

On the Berkely-Site for example you find Lectures about Biology, Chemistry, Nutrition (and many other Topics) both from the running Semester and from past ones (though fewer cause its a new thing). They have the biggest Offer of Video-Lectures i know.
If you are interested in Physics and Math, you find very good Video-Lectures at the MIT-Site.

All those Video-Lectures are provided as Realplayer streams, so you can either watch them online with Realplayer or download them to your disk for offline-viewing *though* that might be a little tricky. The MIT-Site has instructions how to download them, for the Berkeley stuff you probably have to look for a special program (that might be illegal because the people behind Realplayer dont allow that) that can download Streams (that is if you use Windows, if you use Linux it's very easy and is done with MPlayer).

The URLs are:
http://webcast.berkeley.edu/courses/ind ... esterid=10
(on the top right you can switch to older semesters)
http://ocw.mit.edu/OcwWeb/index.htm
(Video-Lectures are only available for Physics I,II,III and Math - Linear Algebra)

I hope its not too offtopic here, forgive me if it is.

Hi Schmolch, yes of course I remember you.
That's very interesting indeed, and hopefully a trend; freedom of education?
Of course you made me curious; what about your diet?
